For Dad…

For a bit of a change, thought I would post the card & box I created for my Dad’s birthday.  He loves Scorched Peanuts, so instead of just giving them in a bottle, I decided to go with a box & put them in celleophane…..
I cased the card from Christine Blain sometime ago, but was waiting for the right occasion to use it!  Christine does some lovely work!
I created my box from scratch, but there are heaps of different types of boxes in blog land.  I just got a bit lazy & didn’t look.  I was happy with the final result as was Dad, especially the Scorched Peanuts!!!!!  He couldn’t wait to get into them.

SC008/11…

Our sketch for Sunny Challenges & Creations… was set by Kris this week & for me working with Marina Mist is always a hard task!  I realise there are harder colours to work with, but I think this is the colour I tend to veer away from at all times.

Along with the sketch, we had to use the colours –
Marina Mist
Crumb Cake
Cajun Craze

For my card, I started from the inside first.  Yep, a little bit back the front.  I actually did the base card last, as I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do for it!

Base Card – Cajun Craze – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10.5cm – once scored & folded in half
Layer 2 – Crumb Cake – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 3 – Marina Mist – 1″ x 4″ or 2.5cm x 10cm
Layer 4 – Very Vanilla – 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ or 2cm x 9.5cm

?

A touch of Marina Mist inside…

?

Using Crumb Cake Ink, I stamped my first image randomly onto the Crumb Cake Cardstock.  The second image was using Cajun Craze Ink & again stamped randomly over the card.

I stamped another image onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Crumb Cake Ink, ensuring that all areas of card were covered.  Grabbing my Cajun Craze Ink again, I randomly stamped the stars over the top.  This piece was then adhered to the piece of Marina Mist – at last, this colour is being used – & then to the Crumb Cake Cardstock using Snail Adhesive & finally to the Base Card – Cajun Craze.

The sentiment was stamped onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Cajun Craze Ink, punched using 1 3/8″ Circle Punch & adhered to a piece of Marina Mist Cardstock – Yes, again you mutter to yourself – which had been punched using the Large Scallop Circle Punch.

Basic Rhinestones were applied to the sentiment!  Who says blokes can’t have bling?????
