Our sketch this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations is for all the mothers out there. Yep, with Mother’s Day coming up, thought it would be great to do a card for the mum’s.
I made my card a couple of weeks ago, forgot about it & created another one yesterday, but will post that during the week. I’ve tried my hand at a little bit of vintage this week and am quiet happy with the result. I am enjoying this “out of the box” for me!
Measurements –
Base Card – Pink Pirouette – 11 3/4″ x 4 1/8″ or 29.5cm x 10.5cm – Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 – Soft Suede – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 3 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ or 9cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 – Pink Pirouette – 2″ x 4 1/8″ or 10.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 – Very Vanilla – 1 7/8″ x 4″ or 10cm x 4.5cm
I run the piece of Soft Suede through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots, before rubbing Whisper White Ink over the top.

Prior to adhering the DSP to the bottom of the embossed Soft Suede, I sponged around the edges with a SU Sponge Dauber using Tea Stain Distressing Ink from the Distressing Essentials Kit.
The piece of Very Vanilla was run through the Bigshot using the Embossing Folder – Finial Press. I rubbed the Tea Stain Distressing Ink over the top of the embossing & adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette & then to the DSP.
I pulled a thread from the middle of the Ribbon so that it would gather a little & adhered along the bottom part of the DSP, tucking ends under. Tied a small bow, wrapped a Glimmer Brad around the middle & adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot.
I cut the butterflies using the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Dies from Soft Sude Cardstock, adhered to card using a Mini Glue Dot. Three basic Pearls were adhered to the middle of the butterfly.
Why does it always sound so easy that I think I have done it in 5 minutes, when in actual fact, it sometimes takes me days to complete a card. This one included!
Your card is beautiful. I love the vintage look. The way you added your ribbon is just gorgeous. I know what you mean about sounding so quick. I guess the thing is if you redo it, it usually is quick. First time around I procrastinate a lot.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous work.
This is really lovely, Vicky. It's a winning colour combination (can't go wrong with those gorgeous colours together), and I love all the texture you've incorporated with the embossing folders. Beautiful, feminine, card.
What a stunning card Vicky. It looks olde world. Gorgeous colours & texture just set it all off nicely. Great sketch too. TFS
Vicky;
There are so many unique & wonderful details on this card! Every time I look at it, I notice something new. Everything blends really well together and has a soft touch to it.
