Happy Birthday Michael

Today’s card is one I created for my brother who had his birthday a couple of days ago.

I originally saw the card on Kay Kalthoff’s blog a little while ago & have been wanting to create it since.  She even has a video on how she created her card, but I just went in blind.  I am not even sure if I have the colours right.  Thank you Kay for your inspiration.

I stamped the image from Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set direct onto a piece of Sahara Sand Card.  This is one colour I don’t use too often 008mm-blogbut when I do, am always wondering why it is not used more often.  The zigzag image from “Work of Art” Stamp Set was stamped across the bottom of the card in Lost Lagoon.  The reeds from “Wetlands” Stamp Set were stamped in Mossy Meadow.

I used #2 Oval from the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out the oval on the card.  I then traced the oval outline onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Card so that I knew where to stamp my images.

The seagull images are from the “Wetlands” Stamp Set & stamped in the centre of the traced oval with Memento Black Ink.  The background is from “Work of Art” Stamp Set & has been stamped once in Sahara Sand, once in Lost Lagoon, although I did stamp off twice depending on how heavy you ink your stamp.  I then stamped a third time without re-inking so that the sky would be a little lighter yet again.

This piece was then adhered to the back of the main card ensuring that adhesive was applied to the edges of the oval, prior to adhering to a piece of Lost Lagoon Card for my Base.

Happy Birthday” was stamped onto a scrap of Very Vanilla with Memento Black Ink, punched with the Large Oval Punch & adhered to a piece of Lost Lagoon Card which has been punched with the Scallop Oval Punch prior to adhering to card front with Stampin’ Dimensonals.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Vicky
