Scrapbooking

For the past few months or so I’ve been creating pages for my niece for her albums.  I create the pages using the traditional method as well as Project Life.  I’m doing both 12″20170515_110800blog1 x 12″ pages plus 8″ x 6″ pages.  Every so often, I will pack them up & post down to her so that she can then put them in one of her albums.

I purchased a couple of albums & pages for Bonnie & had them sent direct to her.  Bon loves getting them & seeing what I have done & what pictures I’ve selected.  Sometimes, I will do the journaling but most of the time I have left that bit blank for her to pop her story onto the page.

Today’s page is one I had half completed but was just sitting there waiting for a little bit of embellishment to be added.  After seeing a page created by Kris McIntosh a light bulb went off.  Of course, I had to use the Botanical Blooms Stamp Set & Botanical Builder Framelits both of which are retiring.  Why hadn’t I thought of that, seeing as though I had used the “Botanical Gardens” DSP (retired).  Thank you Kris for your inspiration.

For my layout, I drew a rough sketch & then sort of followed it.  Mind you, what I 20170515_110750blog2sometimes draw doesn’t always end up what the page will look like.  I cut a strip of Basic Black Card & adhered it down the left side of the DSP.  A piece of Hello Honey Card (retired) was layered onto a piece of Whisper White Card & then to a piece of Mossy Meadow (retired) before layering onto the DSP.

As the photos were sort of dark in colour, I decided to print them out in back & white which works out great in some cases.  Don’t be scared to experiment with your photos.  You will be surprised how different they look when printed in black & white.

For the leaves, I’ve again used Mossy Meadow, while the flowers are Cajun CrazeHello Honey & Basic Black.  I popped Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the centres to finish them off.

This layout could be used for lots of pages.  All you have to do is change out the embellishments, colours & DSP.

I do hope you enjoyed my page today.  Hopefully I will be able to share a lot more pages I’ve created for Bonnie if I remember to take photos before they go off in the post.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Vicky
