It’s been so long since I’ve played with Washi Tape that I couldn’t resist creating a simple card with the gorgeous Heart & Soul Kit Collection by Uniquely Creative. It also includes the gorgeous & oh so pretty Washi Tape.
There’s something so satisfying about making a beautiful handmade card without overcomplicating the process. Today I’m sharing one of my favourite go-to layouts – perfect for beginners or when you just want a relaxing, creative session. It uses simple elements like light scoring and Washi Tape to add charm without the fuss.
This design is all about balance and layering. Start with a standard folded card base, add your Washi Tape or even Pattern Paper & then score a couple of lines either side. This subtle detail instantly adds structure and makes your card feel more polished.
Focal Point
Keep your focal point simple. A small sentiment, stamped or printed, works perfectly. Place it slightly overlapping the washi tape area to tie everything together. If you like, add a tiny embellishment – like a sticker, die cut, or even a small hand-drawn element.
This layout shines because of its simplicity, so resist the urge to overdecorate. A bit of light scoring, a few strips of washi and a clean focal point are all you need. The result is a card that feels thoughtful and stylish without taking hours to create.
