SSC 204…

While all my craft stuff is out & about – usually spread over 2 rooms – thought I would give the challenge over at Stamping 411 a go.  I haven’t done one of these for quiet some time.  Mind you, I am still tossing up about this card.  I think it may be the colours, as I find it very hard to get my head around these colours.  In saying that, I think it would make for a great girl’s card!
Once again Stamping 411 have done all the measurements required for this card.  Don’t you just love that?
Layer 1: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ and folded in half – Rose Red

Layer 2: 4 x 5-1/4″ – Very Vanilla & DSP

Layer 3: 3 x 3″ square, tilted a bit – Pumpkin Pie & Very Vanilla
Layer 4: 3 x 3″ (or other shape) – Rose Red & Very Vanilla

Don’t forget your ribbon/bow combo!

I randomly stamped flower images using Rose Red Ink & Pumpkin Pie for the Butterfly images onto Very Vanilla.  I run the Very Vanilla through the Bigshot using an Embossing Folder.  The DSP was then adhered to the bottom of the card.  I adhered Taffera Ribbom along where the 2 textures meet.
Using Pumpkin Pie Ink, I randomly stamped the flower images & the verse using Rose Red onto the Very Vanilla square & ahered it to the Pumpkin Pie square.  I then stamped a small butterfly onto a spare piece of Very Vanilla using Rose Red, cut it out & set it aside.  I repeated the same with larger butterfly image, except I punched an image using my Punch

Using Pumpkin Pie Ink, I stamped the words onto the 2nd piece of Very Vanilla, Butterflies & flowers images were stamped using Rose Red Ink.  I then adhered the spare butterfly images over the top of the images on the Very Vanilla Cardstock & attached over the top of the 1st square.  The whole lot was then adhered to the Base Card – Rose Red.

To pick the look up & to give it a little bit of depth, I added Rhinestones to the centre of the flowers – gotta love these Rhinestones….  I tied a bow & adhered to card.

Stamp Set – Flight of the Butterfly

Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red
DSP – Sweet & Sour Speciality

I’ve been trying to do a couple of different folds for cards.  This is a normal fold, but with the top showing a little of the inside.
Front –
Card Base – Rose Red Cardstock – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10.5cm. Score & Fold in half
Layer 1 – Daffodil Delight Cardstock – 5 1/8″ x 4″ or 13cm x 10cm.  Front only – Measure & cut 1/2″ or 2cm from top of card – as per photo
Layer 2 – DSP – 5″ x 3 7/8′ or 12.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 – Tempting Turquoise Cardstock – 2″ x 4″ or 5.5cm x 10cm

Layer 5 – Whisper White Cardstock – 2 3/8″ x 1 7/8″ or 6cm x 4.5cm
I punched the edge of Tempting Turquoise using the Edge Punch & adhered this piece to the DSP before adhering to Daffodil Delight Cardstock.  I tied a piece of Satin Ribbon along the top edge of Tempting Turquoise & tied a bow on the RHS.  I then adhered the whole lot to the front of the Base Card.
I stamped my sentiment directly onto Whisper White Cardstock using Basic Black Ink & adhered to the Daffodil Delight Cardstock, prior to adhering to the front of the card.
I adhered a button to small flower & adhered to bottom of card.  I then adhered small flower to a larger flower & placed over the punched leaves.  I then stuck a bigger button to the centre.
Inside –
I run a piece of Daffodil Yellow Cardstock through the Bigshot using an Embossing Folder.  This was adhered to the inside of the base card.  I cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock & adhered this piece to the Daffodil Yellow.  I cut & punched the edge of a piece of DSP & adhered to the bottom of Whisper White Cardstock.

TSSC 173…

Today’s card is inspired using the Colour Inspiration from Stamping 411 which was taken from the colours of this lovely dress.  Isn’t it gorgeous!  The colours suit SU colours perfectly.

The sketch is taken from Mary-Jo’s Challenge found on this blog – Technostamper
Base Card – Tempting Turquoise – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5″ x 3 1/4″ or 13cm x 8.5cm
Layer 2 – Pear Pizzazz – 4 7/8″ x 3 1/8″ or 12.5cm x 8cm
I run the Pear Pizzazz Cardstock through the Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder.  This was layered to Whisper White Cardstock.  I adhered Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon across the bottom, tied a bow & attached it to the base card – Tempting Turquoise.
For my circle, I punched a circle in Whisper White, sponged Tempting Turquoise & Pear Pizzazz Inks to the Whisper White using my SU Sponges.  I then stamped the image in Versamark & heat embossed using Black Embossing Powder.
I punched another circle using Whisper White, adhered it to the smaller circle & attached to the card.
All in all a very simple, but clean card. Again, no sentiment.

FTL 136…

Today’s card is for the challenge over at Clean & Simple Stamping  On seeing this sketch, “DSP – Sweet & Sour Speciality” jumped into my hands.

Base Card – Rose Red – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10cm – Fold & Score
Layer 1 – Very Vanilla – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 3″ x 3 7/8″ or 7.5cm x 9cm
Layer 3 – DSP – 1 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ or 7.5cm x 9cm

I adhered my 2 pieces of DSP onto Very Vanilla Cardstock & adhered this to the Rose Red Base Card

For my ribbon, I decided to use a piece of DSP, but fold it for a little bit of a different look.  I cut a strip of DSP & scored along the piece.  I then proceeded to fold the DSP so that the folds would run down the card similiar to a ladder.  I adhered this to the card.
After cutting Very Vanilla Cardstock with my Bigshot & Sizzlit Dies, I sponged the edges with Pumpkin Pie Ink & a Dauber.  I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Ink.  I cut my butterfly with the Bigshot & Embosslit Dies & sponged using my Dauber & Pumpkin Pie.  I adhered this to the sentiment & using SU Dimensionals, adhered it to the card.  I adhered Basic Pearls to the middle of the Butterfly.

All in all a great sketch!

Stamp Set – Short n Sweet
Ink – Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red
Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Rose Red
Embosslit Dies – Beautiful Wings, Lots of Tags

Thinking of You…

It has been a couple of days since my last post.  I have been busy out in the garden, but now it is just too hot again, so with all housework, etc completed, music in the backbround, Tennis on TV – sound turned down, and my stamps everywhere, I can play!  What better way to spend Sunday arvo, except the beach or maybe fishing!

The inspiration for this card comes from the new sketch over at Stamping 411 and I have combined my group’s weekly challenge where we have to make a Sympathy card – see Here for the 1st card posted.

Again Stamping 411 have supplied the measurements for the sketch –

Base: 11 x 4 1/4″, scored and folded in half at 5 1/2″

Layer 2: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ *** note: this is an extra layer, you could skip this one.. 😀
Layer 3: 5 1/4″ x 4″
Layer 4: 3 3/4″ x 3″
Layer 5: 3 5/8″ x 2 1/2″

For my card I used the Bigshot, Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots – I am loving this folder, but you have probably guessed by now – and embossed Whisper White Cardstock

Taking a piece of Watercolour Paper, I randomly applied Shimmer Paint and allowed to dry.  If you are too impatient, this is where your Heat Tool comes in handy, but I am happy to do something else while waiting for Shimmer Paint to dry.  Wipe your Embossing Buddy over the Paper.  With your image, stamp over Watercolour Paper using Versamark.  While still wet, apply Embossing Powder – White, over the image.  Tap excess into your Tray, and heat image using your Heat Tool.  I love embossing as I love to watch the Powder change colour….

Using an Aqua Painter and Poppy Parade, colour your image.  This is the best part, as you can pick up the ink and with your Painter, lighten or darken your image until you are happy with the result.  I kept mine light as I wanted to keep the whole card very clean.  I then stamped my sentiment directly over the Shimmer.

I’ve found using Shimmer Paint, even the bright colour inks will look soft once stamped.  It also gives a completely different to Watercolour Paper.

Adhere this stamped paper to Poppy Parade Cardstock.  Adhere ribbon to the Embossed Whisper White RHS and adhere Poppy Parade to this piece of Cardstock.  Tie bow and adhere to card.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Fifth Avenue Floral, Sincere Salutations
Inks – Poppy Parade
Cardstock – Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Watercolour Paper
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polks Dots
Ribbon – 3/8″ Taffeta – White
Accessories – Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Embossing Powder – White, Shimmer Paint,
Embossing Buddy, Aqua Painter, Heat Tool, Bigshot
Tip – Sentiments like “Thinking of You”, “For You”, etc make for great cards,
as they cover all types of occasions.
Until next time, Enjoy!

Circles, Circles…

…and more circles.

When I saw this challenge, I knew that I wanted to create a male card by using Circle Circus.  Then to top it off, I found some DSP that would match perfectly with the stamp set & sketch.  I will admit I am very happy with the way it turned out.  Got to love it when that happens!

Base Card – Baja Breeze Cardstock – Cut, score & fold
Layer 1 – Very Vanilla Cardstock – 5 5/8″ x 3 7/8″ or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 2 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ or 6,5cm x 10cm

Stamp sentiment bottom RHS of Very Vanilla Cardstock in Soft Suede Ink.  With my Bigshot, Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots & the bottom half of Very Vanilla Cardstock, I run the Cardstock through the Bigshot.  I then asdhered the DSP to the top half of Very Vanilla and adhered to the base card.

Again with the Bigshot, I cut an oval in Soft Suede Cardstock using the Ovals Dies.  I also cut a smaller one in Very Vanilla.  I grabbed my stamp set, Soft Suede and Baja Breeze Inks and the Very Vanilla Oval and proceeded to stamp.  I adhered this oval to the Soft Suede Oval & then adhered to the card base.
All in all a very easy card, but none the less a very nice one!

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Circle Circus, Sincere Salutations
Inks – Baja Breeze, Soft Suede
Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Soft Suede
DSP – Elegant Soiree – Love this DSP
Bigshot Dies – Ovals
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Bigshot

Until next time, Enjoy!

Best Wishes…

I wanted to use a particular stamp set this morning, so I went searching for a sketch challenge & come across this one from Diva Coffee Break & thought “Why not”.  This is what I come up.

Base Card – Peach Parfait Cardstock – Cut, score & fold
Layer 1 – Not Quiet Navy Cardstock – 5 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 – Pear Pizzazz Cardstock – 5 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ or 14cm x 6.5cm
Layer 3 – DSP – 5 1/2″ x 2 1/8″ or 5.5cm

Attach Layer 1 to card base
Using my Border Punch, I punched both sides of Pear Pizzazz & attached to card base.  Armed with my Bigshot, Oval Dies & Very Vanilla Cardstock, I cut out an oval and randomly rubbed Shimmer Paint over it.
Once the Shimmer Paint was about dried, I stamped a flower image onto the oval using Not Quiet Navy Ink.  I ran my finger around the edges of the oval to give it a bit more of a look.  By doing this I was able to pick up some of the Not Quiet Navy ink which had not completely dried.  Using Shimmer Paint, I was able to do this as it keeps your inks wet a little longer.  I adhered this to the top of the DSP.  I  adhered ribbon and tied a bow tie.
I again randomly applied Shimmer Paint to a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, allowed to dry & then stamped a sentiment using Not Quiet Navy.  I punched the sentiment using my Large Oval.  I punched a piece of Not Quiet Navy Cardstock with the Scallop Oval & adhered it to the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  This was then adhered to the bottom of the DSP.
I adhered the DSP to the Pear Pizzazz.

Inks – Not Quiet Navy
