Happy 90th Birthday

I’m happy to say that I am now holding classes at the Toogoom Community Hall every Friday morning, 9.30am – 11.00am.  This has been a little time getting off the ground, but I think 20161103_111313_resizedblogwe could be on our way.  We would love for you to come along.  All you have to bring is yourself!

I was asked to create a card for a lady who was turning “90” – what a milestone!  She loves gardening, so I thought it about time I dug out my Botanical Builder Framelits.  Red always reminds me of lovely bright & happy gardens, so I dug out the Brights DSP Stack to use with the Framelits.  A little touch of Old Olive & a little Memento Tuxedo Black & we have a WOW card for the lovely lady.

If you think the card looks a little familiar, then you are right, as I created one for my aunt back in July very similar to this one.

If you click on the link below, you will be able to create your own card.  Don’t forget, all measurements (metric & imperial) are included, along with a supply list.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Happy 18th

About 2 weeks ago I was asked to create a couple of 18th Birthday Cards for a few people.  Funny how they all came at once.

Today is the one I posted to the lovely Karen.  It was a special card for one of her models who loves everything girly.  So I set about trying to think of something a little different & trying not to use Pinks.

I cut a piece of Chocolate Chip Card into the shape of a bag & set about decorating it.  A piece of Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon (retired) was adhered to the front to look like a handle.  Parisian Breeze DSP (retired) was cut into the same shape as the “Bag” & adhered to the Chocolate Chip Card.  I cut another of the same DSP into the shape of the “Flap” & layered it over the top.

The “18” was cut a number of times from scrap Whisper White Card using the “Little Numbers” Framelits (retired) & layered together.  I then cut another set of “18” from Marina Mist Card & layered on top.  A piece of scrap Whisper White was cut from the Layered Circles Framelits & adhered to a scallop circle of Chocolate Chip, “Flap” with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a small bow from the same Ribbon & adhered it to one side of the “Ribbon Handle” with a Mini Glue Dot.  I repeated the same for the “E” using the “Little Letters” Framelits, except this time I adhered it to a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine before tying around the Ribbon.

To add a bit of bling, I decided to adhered small Rhinestones to the top of the “18” as well as the “E“.  The bag instantly come “alive”!

The “Happy Birthday” from “Crazy about You” Stamp Set was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White Card in Chocolate Chip Ink, adhered to a piece of Chocolate Chip Card, cut into a Banner Shape one end & adhered to the Card Front.

Don’t forget, you could create the same card using current supplies.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Happy Birthday

I am sharing with you today one of the cards created for our Pretty Pattern PapersTutorials which are launched the middle of each month.

If you are not familiar with this, it is to try & get you to use your DSP lying around in your cupboard which you don’t really want to cut into, but know that you have so much of the stuff that you really have to start using it.  I know, I was exactly the same & now, well I just love making that first cut into the Paper!  The beauty of these Tutorials, is that the DSP does not have to be current, just as long as you are using your DSP is all that matters.

Don’t forget to check out our “Pretty Pattern Papers” Page for more inspiration!

Until, next time, Happy Stampin’

Happy Birthday Elaina

I’ve been playing with Slider Cards (prepping for classes) the last couple of 002wma-blogdays & decided to create one for my niece who turns 3 in a week or so.  If you google “Slider Cards“, all types will come up along with instructions.

In fact, I am so happy with my progress that I didn’t realise that I had created classes for the next 4 months including my volunteer class which is every week.  I am also happy that they are all very different, ie techniques, stamps, colours, etc.  I can only hope that I don’t change my mind at the last minute, which I find myself doing sometimes but more importantly the ladies like them too.

Because Elaina turns 3 this month & is into ducks, I thought it only appropriate that I create a card with ducks & of course we have to have 3 of them.

I did have to comprise on the coins as our 5c coin was a little big, so I punched a couple of circles using the Owl Builder Punch, stuck them together for strength & used them in lieu of the coins.  They are not as strong but it did the trick.

I also opened the gorgeous “Go Wild” DSP Paper Stack which I think suits the card.  I added a little bit of Bermuda Bay behind the ducks to create the illusion of water.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

PS  Since the photo was taken, I’ve added coloured black Rhinestones to their eyes – much better!

Products used to create my card –

Boys Will Be Boys #2

G’day Stampers,

My card has been created using our sketch for this month.  I again decided to use “Boys Will be Boys” which has grown on me &2-February-2015 since using it here a lot of other ideas have popped into my head.

I’ve had this Silver Foil sitting in one of my drawers for a couple of years & thought this was the perfect time to use some of it.  I decided to emboss it using the Chevron Embossing Folder  prior to adhering to a piece of Tangerine Tango Card.

I stamped the Robot Image onto a piece of Whisper White Card using Versamark & Smokey Slate Inks.  I embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder & set with Heat Tool before randomly colouring with my Blender Pen & Smokey Slate Ink.

For my greeting, I decided to try the Faux Metal Technique to match the Silver Foil & the embossed imaged.  If you haven’t tried this technique before, you will be amazed at how hooked you will become.  It gives such a rich finish to your card.

010aa-blogI rubbed Versamark over a piece of Whisper White Card, poured Silver Embossing Powder over the top & heat set with a Heat Tool.  I repeated this 2 more times.  On the 3rd time & while still warm, I then carefully stamped my greeting into the embossing, ensuring my stamp didn’t slip & slide.  The stamp tends to leave a deep metal image, hence giving the effect of “Metal”.

In fact, I liked it so much that I created another card with my greeting cut into a Banner at one end & using a Tangerine Tango Dot from the Brights Collection Dots.
