Sc 018/11…

A new challenge begins today over at Sunny Challenges & Creations so be sure to head over there & check it out.  Along with the sketch, Kris included the stamp set – Upsy Daisy.
I suddenly realised it has been some time since this set last touched ink, so it is a great challenge to dust it off & re-ink.  I will be the first to admit, this is not one of the first sets I go for, but may have to re-look at this in the future.

Getting my card craeted this week was a challenge in itself.  After creating a card & about to email it off to Kris for posting, suddenly realised I had used the wrong stamp set!  Can you believe it?????  Then after completing my 2nd card, I dropped a ink pad fair smack bang in the middle of the card, so back to the drawing board again.  Serves me right for not closing my ink pads once I finish using them!!!!!  That is in amongst loosing the Embossing Folder I was going to use, plus having to cut my butterflies a number of times.

Measurements –
Base Card – Chocolate Chip – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10.5cm – once scored & folded in half
Layer 1 – So Saffron – 5 3/4″ x ” or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Chocolate Chip – 3 1/2″ x 3″ or 9cm x 7.5cm
Layer 3 – So Saffron – 3 3/8″ x 2 7/8″ or 8.5cm x 7cm
Layer 4 – Whisper White – 3 1/4″ x 2 3/4″ or 8cm x 6.5cm

I stamped my image direct onto Whisper White Cardstock using So Saffron Ink, then again with Chocolate Chip Ink, after first stamping off.  With my Bone Folder, I scored the piece diagonally across the card, turned 90 degrees & scored again.

I inked the Whisper White Cardstock with Versamark, poured Clear Embossing Powder over the top, tapped excess off & heat set with my Heat Tool.  This piece was adhered to So Saffron Cardstock & then to Chocolate Chip Cardstock using Snail Adhesive.

Using my Bone Folder & Ruler, the larger piece of So Saffron Cardstock was again scored diagonally, tuned 90 degress & scored again.  I adhered the embossed piece to the So Saffron piece, ensuring I had the opposite side of the scored card showing.

I adhered a piece of ribbon across the bottom, stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, punched it with my Large Oval Punch & adhered to a piece of Chocolate Chip Cardstock which had been punched with my Scallop Oval Punch.  I adhered this to the centre with a SU Dimensional.  The whole lot was adhered to the Base Card – Chocolate Chip with Snail Adhesive.

I cut my butterflies with my Bigshot, adhered 2 smaller ones together & then onto the card.  I adhered a small Rhinestone to the centre of the butterfly.

Stamp Set – Upsy Daisy
Ink – Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Versamark
Cardstock – Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Whisper White

SC 011/11…

This is my card for the challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations  I am a little late in posting mine & have taken a couple of days off, & now that I have sort of finished all the stuff I had to do, decided to make a sample.
The challenge was set by Kris & not only did we have to go by the sketch but also use the stamp set “Season of Joy”.
Base Card – Riding Hood Red – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – score @ 4 1/8″ or 10.47cm & fold in half
Layer 1 – Early Expresso – 5 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ or 14.5cm x 10.5cm
Layer 2 – Riding Hood Red – 4″ x 3 3/4″ or 10cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 – DSP – 3 7/8″ x 3 5/8″ or 9.5cm x 9cm
Layer 4 – Riding Hood Red – 3 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ or 9.5cm x 8cm
Layer 5 – Whisper White – 3 5/8″ x 3 1/8″ or 9cm x 7.5cm
Layer 6 – Early Expresso – 2 7/8″ x 2 3/8″ or 7cm x 6cm
Layer 7 – Whisper White – 2 3/4″ x 2 1/4″ or 6.5cm x 5.5cm
I sort of made up by card as I went along.  In fact I started from the inside & worked my way out!  It happens this way a lot for me!
Using Riding Hood Red Ink, I stamped my image direct onto Whisper White Cardstock & adhered to a piece of Early Expresso Cardstock with my Snail Adhesive.
I run the piece of Whisper White Cardstock through the Bigspot & Embossing Folder – Petals a Plenty, coloured the middle of the flowers with my SU Marker – Riding Hood Red & adhered to a piece of Riding Hood Red Cardstock.  I thought this EF matched the stamp set perfectly.  This piece was adhered to a piece of Riding Hood Red Cardstock.
The DSP piece was adhered to a piece of Riding Hood Red & then adhered to the main piece of Early Expresso Cardstock.  I adhered all my separate pieces to this main piece, as per the sketch.  I wanted to tuck my ribbon ends under the main piece of Early Expresso Cardstock prior to adhering to the Base Card – Riding Hood Red.
To break the colours up a bit, I adhered Marina Mist Ribbon across the top of the card & tied a double bow-tie to the centre.  I applied small Basic Rhinestones to the flowers & snowflake in the stamped image.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Sean of Joy
Ink – Riding Hood Red
Cardstock – Whisper White, Early Expresso, Riding Hood Red
DSP – Letters to Santa
Embossing Folder – Petals a Plenty
Ribbon – 1/8″ Taffeta – Marina Mist

I also attached a ribbon & punched a greeting!  For the bird’s eye, I used a Basic Rhinestone & coloured it using a black permanent marker!  Works wonders!

SC 002/11..

The new week begins with a new sketch & stamp set.  This week it has been set by Kris and me being me, just about left it to the last moment, but after putting my thinking cap on, I come up with the following creation.  Doing these challenges is helping me to think outside the square so to speak & also to use colours hat I would not normally use, let alone together.  For more information & to link up with Mr Linky, head over to
For my card, I stamped an image direct onto Sahara Sand using Blushing Bride Ink.  I cut a piece of Bravo Burgandy & mounted a smaller piece of DSP over the top.  I cut another piece in Blushing Bride, stamped an image onto it using Sahara Stone Ink, run it through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder – Square Lattice & adhered to card.  I then adhered the DSP piece over the top, as per the sketch.
I cut 2 ovals using my Bigshop & the Ovals Die, the bigger one in Bravo Burgandy, while the smaller piece is Sahara Sand.  I stamped the same image onto the Sahara Sand piece using Blushing Bride Ink & then the bird image over the top with Bravo Burgandy Ink.
I again stamped the bird image onto a scrap piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock, cut it out & mounted over the top of the first image using SU Dimensionals.
For the inside of the card, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, stamped an image using Blushing Bride Ink & then stamped the bird image over the top with Bravo Burgandy Ink.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Friends 24-7
Ink – Bravo Burgandy, Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand
Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Bravo Burgandy, Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand
DSP – In Colours
Dies – Ovals
Embossing Folders – Square Lattice
Accessories – Snail Glue, SU Dimensionals, Bigshot
I do hope you will join us for this great challenge.  You have until next Saturday to do so.
Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 001/11…

I thought I would do another card for our current sketch & stamp set.  It is not too late to create a card from the sketch using “Inspired by Nature” Stamp Set.  Check out the details –
For my card, I thought I would use some of the outgoing DSP, emboss a little here & there, put it altogether & that would be it.  Yes, I used the DSP, but after putting it together, looked at it & found out I totally forgot to do the embossing.  Oh well, all the embossing stuff will have to wait another day.
I cut a piece of DSP, adhered to Very Vanilla Cardstock & adhered to the base card – Riding Hood Red.  I stamped the image directly onto DSP using Basic Black Ink, adhered to Riding Hood Red & then to base card.
For my butterflies, I used the Bigshot & Embosslits Die – Beautiful Wings, along with DSP & Riding Hood Red.  The butterflies were adhered randomly over the card with Basic Pearls adhered down the middle of them.
Again, a very easy card, although I can’t help think it would have been much better if I had not forgotten to Heat Embossed.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Inspired by Nature
Ink – Basic Black
Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Riding Hood Red, Basic Black
Embosslit Dies – Beautiful Wings
DSP – Love Letter
Accessories – Snail Glue, Basic Pearls, Bigshot
Why not head across to the challenge site & take a look at the lovely creations.  There is still time to submit your creation
Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 01111…

This is the first challenge for our new challenge blog –
The sketch was created by the lovely & talented Gwen using the set stamp set for the week – Inspired by Nature.
For my card, I used Chocolate Chip Cardstock for the Base.  Adhered a piece of Pumpkin Pie on top, run a piece of Chocolate Chip through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder – Square Lattice & adhered to card.
I stamped my first image directly onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Old Olive Ink.  I coloured my 2nd image using my SU Markers, stamped over the top of the first image & applied Crystal Effects to the top of the flowers to add dimensions.  This piece was adhered to Old Olive Cardstock & then to the base card.

Inside Card…

Close-Up – showing use of Crystal Effects

All in all a very easy sketch for the stamp set, but unlimited possibilities.  The colours I used for my sample are not my usual colours as I decided to go way out of my comfort zone.
I think I pulled it off.  Let me know what you think.
