SC 028/12…

Another new challenge is up & running over at Sunny Challenges & Creations.  Wouldn’t you think that if I had to set the challenge, I would have some sort of idea on what to create – Nope, No Way, Not me!!!!!!

For this challenge we had to use the Technique – Faux Silk. I love techniques, so this was a great challenge for me.  The sketch is fairly easy too.  So why not join us?

Now don’t be like me & continue tossing out your little scrunched ball.  I did it about 3 times before I realised what I was actually tossing out!

Adhere the whole lot to the Base Card – Calypso Coral
Adhere Pearls to flower centre & 3 Pearls to the Crochet Trim
Stamp sentiment onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock with Calypso Coral Ink
Punch with Oval Punch & adhere to a piece of Calypso Coral which has been punched with Scallop Oval Punch

I missed a flower centre on my card & didn’t notice it until I went to post the card.  It is now driving me crazy, but too late to fix as this went in the post on Friday.

Why not head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & check out the gorgeous cards Kris & Shirley have created.

We would love for you to join us.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Just Believe….

…is such a great stamp set & I find myself going to it constantly that I sometimes have to stop & grab another.

It is so long since I created a card for a challenge that I thought I would try the challenge over at Stampin’ Up! Only.  This site is where you have to use SU! products only on your creations.  This week the challenge is to use a Technique that you use infrequently.  I don’t do nearly enough techniques on my cards, so this is the perfect opportunity to try!

Knowing what I had to create on my card, I then went in search of a sketch.  What better place to start than Mary Jo’s.  This is the first of her sketches for the year.

For my card I choose the Technique – Faux Silk

Measurements –
Base Card – Calyspo Coral – 11 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 30cm x 10.5cm – Scored & Folded in the middle
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5 5/8″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 5 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 x 2 – Calyspo Coral – 3 1/2″ x 2″ or 9cm x 5cm
Layer 4 x 2 – Whisper White – 3 3/8″ x 1 7/8″ or 8.5cm x 4.5cm
Layer 5 – Calyspo Coral – 5 3/4″ x 3/4″ or 14.5cm x 2cm
Layer 6 – Whisper White – 5 5/8″ x 5/8″ or 14cm x 1.5cm

I adhered the DSP to the piece of Whisper White Cardstock & then to the Base Card – Calyspo Coral using Snail Adhesive.

Envelope & Inside…
After stamping my image onto Tissue Paper using Pear Pizzazz Ink, let dry & scrunched the tissue,  adhered it to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Anywhere Glue.  I adhered this piece to the 2 pieces of Calyspo Coral Cardstock before adhering to the Base Card.

I stamped my sentiment onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Pear Pizzazz Ink and adhered to the long piece of Calyspo Coral prior to adhering to the card.

I punched 3 flowers in Calyspo Coral Cardstock using the Boho Punch & adhered to the card.  Pearls were applied to the centre as well as to some of the images.

I tied a bow & adhered to the card.

Stamp Set – Just Believe, A Word for You

Cardstock – Calyspo Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White
DSP – In Colours

SC 015/11…

G’Day Friends,

Another week has gone & that means a NEW challenge.  This week it was set by Gwen, so be sure to pop over to leave some lovely comments for both  Kris & Gwen
As usual, we have 2 parts to the challenge, and this week along with the sketch, we had to use that great Technique – Emboss Resist.  This is such a fun technique that you will love seeing the finished creation once you start.

For my card, I wanted to use the new “IN” Colour – Pool Party, so I went straight for my trusty Colour Coach.

Measurements –
Base Card – Pool Party – 11 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 29.5cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5 cm x 10cm
Layer 2 x 2 – Wild Wasabi – 2 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ or 5.5cm x 6cm
Layer 3 x 2 – Whisper White – 2 1/8″ x 2 3/8″ or 5cm x 5.5cm

For my background on the larger piece of Whisper White, I heat embossed my image onto the Whisper White using Versamark, Not Quiet Navy Inks & Clear Embossing Powder.  Tutorial may be seen in this post

I then Heat Embossed the 2 small pieces of Whisper White using Embossing Powder – White.  Tutorial for Emboss Resist is separate posting & may be found after this posting.

Prior to adhering the Emboss Resist pieces to Wild Wasabi, I randomly stamped the same image over the top using Pool Party Ink.  Because I had used such light colours for my resist, I needed the images stamped  to bring out the colours.  These pieces were then adhered to the Whisper White.

For my greeting, I used my SU Marker – Not Quiet Navy & stamped direct onto a scrap of Whisper White I punched 2 Daffodil Delight pieces of cardstock using my Scallop Oval Punch & adhered these behind the greeting just enough so that I had a little of the scallop showing.  This was adhered to the Base Card with SU Dimensionals.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Pocket Silhouettes, Afterthoughts
Ink – Versamark, Not Quite Navy, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Cardstock – Pool Party, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Punches – Extra Large Oval, Scallop Oval
Accessories – Embossing Powder – White, Embossing Powder – Clear, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, SU Sponges, SU Marker – Not Quiet Navy

Until next time, Enjoy!

Anyone for Embossing?  Heat Embossing, ie.  Yep, another week & another new challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations

As well as the sketch provided, I thought it would be a great opportunity to dig out those Heat Tools & to do a little Heat Embossing.  How long is it since you have used your Heat Gun?  I know it has been some time for me.  With all the new products coming out from Stampin’ Up!, we seem to forget about our favourites sometimes.

Base Card – Pumpkin Pie – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10.5cm – once scored & folded in half
Layer 1 – Early Expresso – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 5 5/8 x 3 7/8″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 – Early Expresso – 4 1/2″ x 2″ or 11.5cm x 5cm
Layer 4 – Whisper White – 4 3/8″ x 1 7/8″ or 11cm x 4.5cm
Layer 5 – Early Expresso – 1 1/2″ x 3″ or 3.5cm x 7.5cm
Layer 6 – Whisper White – 1 3/8″ x 2 7/8″ or 3cm x 7cm

Close-Up of Greeting…

I adhered the DSP to piece of Early Expresso using Snail Adhesive & set aside.

I rubbed my Embossing Buddy over both pieces of Whisper White Cardstock, stamped my image using first Versamark, then Early Expresso Ink, stamped direct onto the longer piece of Whisper White Cardstock, poured Clear Embossing Powder over the top & heat set with my Heat Tool.  I adhered this piece to the longer piece of Early Expresso Cardstock.

Close-Up – Double Bow & Pearl…

I inked my image in Early Expresso Ink, stamped off onto a scrap of paper & then around the edges of the small piece of Whisper White Cardstock, before embossing my greeting/sentiment in Early Expresso Ink.  This piece was adhered to another smaller piece of Early Expresso Cardstock.

I adhered a piece of Satin Ribbon along the bottom half of the longer embossed Whisper White piece, adhered to DSP, then to the base card, tied a double bow, attached a Flower Brad & a Basic Pearl to the centre.

Inside…

The sentiment cardstock piece was adhered across the top using Snail Adhesive & SU Dimensionals.

Basic Pearls were applied randomly over the embossed images.
