Lapbook Folio | Silent Night Paper Collection | The Scrap Room

G’Day Crafty Friends,

Today I’m sharing a new Lapbook Folio that I created using the gorgeous Silent Night Collection by 3Quarter Designs as part of my Design Team project for The Scrap Room.  I just love how this one came together!

There are lots and lots of spaces for photos, with room for all different sizes throughout the folio.  There are flips, pockets, waterfalls and interactive pages, so there’s plenty to discover as you work your way through it.  In saying that I did add a little extra & took a few things away that the tutorial had.

Best part about this folio is everything is cut & scored for you PLUS you get step by step instructions along with photos for each step.  This makes it so very easy to create.  The hardest part is deciding on what papers to use.

The beautiful Silent Night Collection were such a pleasure to work with and were perfect for giving this folio that lovely Christmas feel.  Mind you, the papers are so totally gorgeous that I didn’t really want to chop into them but chop them I did!

Pine Festivities Card Collection | The Scrap Room

Do you ever have leftover patterned papers and die cuts sitting on your desk after finishing a project?  Don’t pack them away just yet!  They can be the perfect starting point for a whole new set of cards.

For this card collection, I used the leftover papers and die cuts from my previous Pine Festivities Card Collection – 3Quarters Designs – project to create three quick and easy cards.  Instead of using the papers in the same way, I simply chopped them randomly in  different directions, giving each card its own unique look.

Three Cards, One Collection

Using the same coordinating papers and die cuts makes it really easy to create a collection of cards that look like they belong together, while changing the way you cut and arrange the pieces keeps each card interesting.

For the first card, I randomly chopped the patterned paper in a simple vertical design, adding a few of the leftover die-cut elements to finish it off.

The second card has a completely different layout.  By randomly chopping the remaining paper into smaller pieces and rearranging them back in order, I was able to create a fresh background without needing any additional patterned paper.

For the third card, I changed the direction by randomly chopping the paper horzontically.  Again, a single die cut & sentiment was all that was needed to bring the design together.

I love how a few simple changes can make the same collection of supplies look completely different!

The trick is to cut your leftovers in different ways — strips, rectangles, squares, angled pieces or even smaller panels — and experiment with how they look together.  You might be surprised at how many different cards you can create from just a few scraps.

Digi Choosday | Polkadoodles Crafts

It’s Digi Choosday time!

Our theme this week is to create a “Christmas project with a closure of some sort“.  I’m loving the themes we’re giving for our projects each month.  Are you?  I sure hope they are giving you heaps of ideas for your projectrs.

I’ve created a fun, yet festive card with non-traditional Christmas colours.  The pre-coloured Pretty Poinsettia Flower Holly Digital Stamp has been fussy cut prior to adhering to the card front with Foam Tape.  The Sentiment is from the same download – Don’t you love it when the sentiment and image are paired for you?

The paper is from the Theo Penguin Paper Bundle 3 which I think suits the card perfectly.  The interactive latch adds a playful touch, allowing the card to open and close!

Three Easy Christmas Cards | Christmas Wishes Collection | Paper Rose Studio

G’ay Crafty Friends,

I’ve created 3 easy Christmas cards using the lovely Christmas Wishes 6 x 6 Paper Collection along with the coordinating Embossed Die Cuts by Paper Rose Studio.

The lovely combination of the papers, layers and textures make it easy to create cards that feel special without being too complicated.

One of my favourite techniques in this collection is layering the embossed die cuts with the patterned papers.  The embossed details add beautiful texture, while layering the die cuts creates extra dimension and gives each card plenty of visual interest.

Craft Dies are a wonderful way to add that extra special touch.  By combining different die-cut shapes, embossed elements and paper layers, you can build up a design that looks detailed and elegant while still being quick and achievable.

For these three cards, I kept the layouts simple and allowed the gorgeous papers and embossed details to do the talking.  A few carefully placed layers are all it takes to create depth and dimension, making each card unique while keeping the process easy and enjoyable.

Card #1 – Merry Christmas

  1. Adhere Pattern Paper to Charcoal Black Smooth Cardstock layer prior to adhering to Basic White Smooth Base Card
  2. Die cut rectangle from Basic White Smooth Cardstock with Stitched Rectangle Dies prior to adhering to panel of Charcoal Black Smooth panel & adhering to card front with Black Foam Tape 
  3. Arrange & adhere Embossed Die Cuts to left side of stitched Basic White Smooth panel with Adhesive & Foam Tape
  4. Cut sentiment of choice from the Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets, curl with Bone Folder & adhere to panel – refer photo for placement
  5. Complete card by randomly adhering Clear Crystal Mix to panel

Card #2 – Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year

  1. Adhere Pattern Paper to Charcoal Black Smooth Cardstock layer prior to adhering to Basic White Smooth Base Card
  2. Adhere a panel of Pattern Paper to a panel of Charcoal Black Smooth Cardstock prior to adhering to left side of card front with Black Foam Tape – refer photo for placement
  3. Die cut circle sentiment from Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets with Stitched Circle Dies prior to adhering to a punched circle of Charcoal Black Smooth panel & adhering to card front with Black Foam Tape on right side & Adhesive on left side
  4. Arrange & adhere Embossed Die Cuts around circle with Foam Tape & Adhesive
  5. Complete card by randomly adhering Clear Crystal Mix to panel

Card #3 – Sending Joy & Peace

  1. Die cut window window scene Pattern Paper with Stitched Circle Dies prior to adhering to die cut circle & adhering towards left side of Pattern Paper with about 1/2″ / 1.2cm overlapping on left side
  2. Trim off excess Paper/Cardstock with Scissors or Paper Trimmer
  3. Adhere Pattern Paper layer to layer of Charcoal Black Smooth Cardstock prior to adhering to Basic White Smooth Base Card
  4. Fussy cut around top of remaining Pattern Paper from Step 1 prior to adhering to top of window scene with Foam Tape – all you are doing is cutting the scene of the Paper down a little & putting it back together, so to speak
  5. Arrange & adhere Embossed Die Cuts to card front with Foam Tape
  6. Cut sentiment of choice from Crisp Christmas Sentiments Sheets prior to adhering to card front with Foam Tape on left side & Adhesive on right side
  7. Complete card by randomly adhering Clear Crystal Mix to panel
