Paper Bliss #1 – 5-Step Cards with Vicky – Simple, Stunning, Handmade Bliss!

G’Day Friends,

Are you looking for ways to use your Pattern Paper or easy card making ideas?  Me too!  Well, I am happy to say that each fortnight I will be sharing a go-to-5-step formula for making elegant handmade cards that look store-bought but feel deeply personal.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned crafter, I’m sure this process will help you create beautiful cards in just a few simple steps.

My 5 Steps to Cardmaking Magic

1. Choose Your Focal Point
Start with one standout element.  It could be a stamped image, a die-cut or even a hand-painted design.  Everyone loves florals or whimsical critters – anything that sets the tone of your card, so why not start there.

2. Pick a Background Technique
Create texture or colour with a simple background.  Ink blending, stenciling or patterned paper – I like to keep it subtle to let the focal point shine.  I LOVE Pattern Paper!

3. Add Layers
Use foam tape, cardstock mats, or layering dies to add dimension.  My tip – a little layering goes a long way to make your card pop!  I LOVE layers!

4. Sentiment Placement
Stamp or emboss your message – thank you, happy birthday, congratulations – and place it where it balances the design.  I LOVE Sentiment Sheets to speed things up!

5. Embellish with Intention
Finish with tiny touches – sequins, enamel dots or a splash of shimmer.  This step pulls it all together.  “Less is more – but sparkle is always welcome.”

Pro Tip –

Keep a mini “card kit” with pre-cut elements, stamped images or die-cut images and sentiment strips.  When inspiration strikes, you’re already halfway there!

A Handmade Card Inspiration with Rustic Spring Collection

G’Day Friends,

I am continuing with the Rustic Spring Collection for our Anything Goes Saturday where Robbie & I share & create with what we have sitting in our craft room.  I love this as it gives me the opportunity to play & create with whatever!

There’s something timeless and soothing about the raw beauty of nature – sun-dappled fields and spring’s early blooms awakening the earth.  The Rustic Spring Collection captures that very essence, blending organic textures with delicate seasonal motifs to bring a warm, handcrafted feel to every creative project.

Be sure to check out Robbie’s project.

A Fresh Take on Rustic

  • The Rustic Springs isn’t your typical rustic – it’s elegance wrapped in wildflower bouquets, faded wood grains and watercolor washes.  Each sheet evokes a sense of nostalgia while remaining beautifully modern.  Whether you’re a scrapbooker, cardmaker, journaler or DIY enthusiast, this collection will elevate your storytelling with heartfelt depth.

Design Details

  • The paper on the card front features a eclectic print from the Rustic Spring pack, evoking that charming farmhouse feel.  I created a very simple cluster with a gorgeous handbag with a big white bow, along with a beautiful pair of shoes, again with big white bows, which sit on a Basic White Smooth punched circle with a Blue Sky Shimmer Cardstock stitched circle underneath.  To finish it off, I added a layered a sentiment direct onto scrap Blue Sky Shimmer Cardstock followed by randomly scattered Clear Rhinestones.

Why Rustic Spring?

  • What I love most about the Rustic Spring Collection is it’s versatility – they blend seamlessly for both soft romantic looks and earthy, grounded designs.  Whether you’re making cards, journals or home décor, this collection gives your crafts a cozy, handmade warmth.

Perfect for Any Occasion

  • This card is ideal for spring birthdays, thank-you notes or just a sweet hello to brighten someone’s day.  The natural hues and textures make it timeless and heartfelt.

If you haven’t yet explored the Rustic Spring Collection, I highly recommend giving it a try. It’s a breath of fresh air and creativity – just like the season itself.
