Kinda Eclectic

At our Technique Class a couple of weeks ago, we did the great Technique – Faux Canvas.  What a fun & relaxing arvo we had creating our cards. 019a

We used the great stamp set – Kind Eclectic. There are so many fantastic cards over the internet using this set that you can’t help but like it or in my case love it!  So many ideas, so little time!

To learn how to create a card or project with this technique, be sure to click on the page “Technique Tutorials“.  I will be adding more tutorials for techniques we have covered in our class as time goes.

For the inside of my card, I stamped images using Lost Lagoon, Tangerine Tango & Wild Wasabi Inks direct onto Very Vanilla CS before adhering to inside of Base Card – Wild Wasabi.

016aUntil next time, Happy Stampin’

This is the page we completed for our 2nd recipe.  A little bit different from the one posted a couple of days ago, but still a hit with the class.  It comes from Rose’s Kitchen!

The ladies are liking the idea of swaping & trying new recipes.  The talk didn’t stop at how yummy this recipe would be, but how smililar recipes were to it & how they would try this out on the kids in the school holidays come April.

Inspired by Nature…

The layout for these pages have been inspired both by the photos & of course the Stamp Set – Inspired by Nature.  I think this set is perfect for these photos without taking away from the photos.  I love to scrap my photos, while at the same time not have the photo/s become lost on the page.
Page 1 –
I matted my photo onto Crumb Cake & then onto Garden Green Cardstock.  I inked my image with Crumb Cake Ink & radomly stamped around Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I tried to bring the weeds from the photo onto the page.
Wanting to add a little bit of green & the colour of the T-Shirt Amber is wearing, I decided to ink the flower image using Garden Green, So Saffron & Pacific PointSU Markers & stamp over the top of the reeds.  I repeated this step twice.  I then applied Crystal Effects to the flowers so that the colours would pop out more.
Once the Crystal Effects had dried, I adhered my photo to the page.
Using my Basic Black SU Marker, I wrote onto a scrap piece of Vanilla Vanilla, punched out using my Oval Punch & adhered to a piece of Pacific Point Cardstock, which had been punched with my Scallop Oval Punch
I punched a hole either side of the oval with my Handheld Punch & thread a piece of Linen Thread through either side.  I think this blends in well with the whole scrub theme.
Page 2 –
This page was really very easy & took all of about 5 minutes.
I matted my photo onto Crumb Cake & then to Marina Mist Cardstock.

I stamped my reeds onto Very Vanilla Cardstock with Crumb Cake Ink.  I again inked my flower image with Pacific Point, Garden Green & So Saffron SU Markers & stamped them onto the page.  I applied Crystal Effects to the flowers & set aside to dry.

I adhered my photo the centre of the page & with my SU Basic Black Marker, wrote a little bit of “What’s Happening

Garden Green, Crumb Cake

2nd Calender…

I am a day late in posting my 2nd calender, but better later than never.  This one is a little different from the one posted 2 days ago.
I randomly stamped images over the pages of the calender using Riding Hood Red & Baja Breeze Inks.  Ensuring all pages were squareed away nice & evenly, using my Handheld Punch, I punched 3 holes into the top of the calender about 1.5cm from each end & 1 cm down from the top.  I applied 3 White Brads through the holes & adhered to the piece of A4 Whisper White Cardstock which had been adhered to a piece of Cardboard from the DSP Papers with Sticky Strip.
I created the background for the top of my calender by stamped random images onto Whisper White Cardstock using Riding Hood Red & Baja Breeze Inks.
The stamp set is a 2-step stamp set, but for the background, I only used the outline stamp.  I wanted the background to be sort of clean looking.
Deciding that I wanted my 3-D flowers to filled in, I used both the outline & the filler stamps to create my flowers to be adhered over the background.
I stamped 3 large flowers onto Whisper White Cardstock using Baja Breeze Ink, cut them out & adhered over the stamped images using SU Dimensionals.
I stamped a number of smaller flowers onto Whisper White Cardstock using Riding Hood Ink, cut around the images & again adhered randomly to the stamped images using SU Dimensionals.
Using the Boho Blossoms Punch, I punched 3 flowers with Baja Breeze Cardstock, adhered to the centre of the larger flowers with Crystal Effects & adhered Basic Pearls to all the centres of the 3-D flowers.
This piece was adhered to a piece of Riding Hood Red with Sticky Strip & finally to the top of the calender.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Flower Fancy
Ink – Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red
Cardstock – Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Cardboard from DSP Papers
Punches – Boho Blossom, Handheld Punch
Accessories – Crystal Effects, Sticky Strip, Basic Pearls, SU Dimensionals
Until next time, Enjoy!

New Technique…

I did this card quiet sometime ago.  In fact, it was for Father’s Day – so I must apologise for not having any measurements.

I found this great Technique – Acetate & Tissue, over at Splitcoast Stampers.

Base Card – Garden Green Cardstock
Layer 1 – Very Vanilla
Layer 2 – DSP

Layer 3 – Tangerine Tango
Layer 4 – Very Vanilla
Using Snail Adhesive, I adhered the DSP to the piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock & then to the Base Card – Garden Green.
I stamped the boat image direct onto the piece of Acetate using Black Staz-On Ink & set aside to dry.
I stamped the tree images onto the piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Garden Green Ink.
With the piece of stamped Acetate, I applied Crystal Effects all over the back, ensuring the Effects were covering a large part of the Acetate.  Once this was done, using my Garden Green Re-Inker, I applied a couple of random drops onto the Crystal Effects & moved it around with my finger until I was happy with the look of the coverage.

At this stage, I added a little of Dazzling Diamonds to give it a little bit of a lift & some sparkle behind the Acetate when finished.

I then added a larger piece of tissue over the whole lot, turned the Acetate over so that the front was now facing me & placed it over the piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock & pressed into place.  I trimed the piece to the size I wanted which in this case, was slightly smaller than the Tangerine Tango Piece I was adhering it to.

This whole piece was adhered over the top of the DSP & to the Base Card.

I stamped the greeting onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Cardstock using Tangerine Tango Ink, punched with Oval Punch & adhered to piece of Bashful Blue which had been punched with the Scallop Oval Punch.  I applied this to the card with SU Dimensionals.

The final result for this technique is really stunning & has so much potential.  I must make another card using this technique again.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Lovey as a Tree, Sali Away, Well Scripted
Ink – Garden Green, Staz-On Black
DSP – Woodland Walk
Punches – Scallop Oval, Large Oval
Accessories – SU Dimensionals, Dazzling Diamonds, Snail Adhesive,
Crystal Effects, Re-Inker – Garden Green
Non-SU – Tissue
Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 01111…

This is the first challenge for our new challenge blog – http://www.sunnychallenges.blogspot.com/
The sketch was created by the lovely & talented Gwen using the set stamp set for the week – Inspired by Nature.
For my card, I used Chocolate Chip Cardstock for the Base.  Adhered a piece of Pumpkin Pie on top, run a piece of Chocolate Chip through the Bigshot using Embossing Folder – Square Lattice & adhered to card.
I stamped my first image directly onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Old Olive Ink.  I coloured my 2nd image using my SU Markers, stamped over the top of the first image & applied Crystal Effects to the top of the flowers to add dimensions.  This piece was adhered to Old Olive Cardstock & then to the base card.

Inside Card…

Close-Up – showing use of Crystal Effects

All in all a very easy sketch for the stamp set, but unlimited possibilities.  The colours I used for my sample are not my usual colours as I decided to go way out of my comfort zone.
I think I pulled it off.  Let me know what you think.

With Envelope…

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Inspired by Nature
Ink – Old Olive
Cardstock – Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive

Outback…

I’m finally back…….  It has been a couple of weeks since my last post.

I’ve created this card for my groups challenge – Patriotric Theme.  Without doing the colours of the flag or the Southern Cross, I decided to go with Black, Yellow & Red.  I only hope my trees look a little like the gums out home!  See what you think?

Base Card – Daffodil Delight – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10cm
Layer 1 – Real Red – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 – Basic Black – 5″ x 3 1/8″ or 13cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 – Whisper White – 4 7/8″ x 3″ or 12.5cm x 9cm
I stamped the tree image directly onto the Whisper White Card using Versamark Ink.  I then heat embossed the image using Black Embossing Powder
I punched the moon from a scrap of Whisper White Card & adhered it to the Whisper White Card.  Using my SU Sponges & Basic Black Ink, I sponged the bottom half, ensuring that the horizon wasn’t in a straight line.
I sponged the next layer using Daffodil Yellow, followed by Real Red Inks.  Once sponging was completed, I carefully removed the moon & rubbed a little White Shimmer Paint on the moon to make it look like there was a “man on the moon.”
I adhered the Real Red Card to the Base Card – Daffodil Yellow.  I then adhered the image piece of card to Basic Black Card & adhered it to the Base Card.  I coloured the Rhinestones using Basic Black Ink & applied a little Crystal Effects on top.
For my sentiment, I stamped it in Basic Black onto Whisper White Card, punched it out using my Oval Punch & then punched a piece of Daffodil Yellow with the Scallop Oval Punch and adhered to the base card.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Lovely as a Tree, Short & Sweet
Ink – Basic Black, Real Red, Daffodil Yellow, Versamark
Cardstock – Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red, Daffodil Yellow
Punches – 1 1/4″ Circle, Large Oval, Scallop Oval
Accessories – Multipurpose Glue, Rhinestones, SU Sponge, Heat Tool, Crystal Effects
Until next time, Enjoy!

Red Robin…

With all the house work etc completed, what else is a girl to do, but make cards!

This one has been created for the Colour Challenge over at Stamping 411

So I ‘ve pulled out my wheel, which I have not used in quiet some time.  I already had my stamp out to use for another card, but that one went by the wayside when these colours come screaming at me!

Cut base card from Wild Wasabi Cardstock lengthways & score in half
Cut Whisper White Cardstock
Inking up SU®  Wheel in Wild Wasabi, roll across the strip of Whisper White
Using your Eyelet Border Punch, punch the edge of the Whisper White
Apply So Saffron Grosgran 5/8″ Ribbon about 3/4″ up from the bottom of Whisper White & tie knot
Adhere to Wild Wasabi card
With a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, Rose Red Ink & Versamark, stamp bird image onto Whisper White, Heat Emboss & cut out – instructions may be found Here
Adhere bird to ribbon using Stamin’ Dimensionals
Using Stampin’ Write Journaler, colour bird’s eye black & apply Crystal Effects
Inking sentiment in Versamark & Basic Black, stamp sentiment directly onto the card & Heat Emboss, as per instructions above for Heat Embossing

My Card –

Stamp Set – Always, Heard from the Heart
Ink – Wild Wasabi, Basic Black, Versamark, Rose Red
Cardstock – Wild Wasabi, Whisper White

Happy Birthday…

I’ve created this card for the challenge over at Creative Sketches  I’ve never attempted a challenge over there, but this one looked quiet good & immediately thought Male, along with the DSP- Woodland Walk from SU®  The jury is still out on this one, but think maybe it is starting to grow on me.
I’ve used both Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbons on this card.  I wanted to highlight the Very Vanilla in the DSP, while at the same time break up the joining of the DSP using Chocolate Chip.
I punched 3 stars using the small Star Punch & adhered to the DSP.  Using my 1/16″ Handheld Circle Punch, I punched 3 dots using Chocolate Chip Cardstock  – a little fiddley, but it is what I had in my mind, so I had to fiddle for a little.  I then adhered these to the middle of the stars & applied Crystal Effects over the top to give a little more dimension.
For the sentiment, I used the stamp from Perfect Punches, stamped it in Chocolate Chip & punched out using Extra-Large Oval Punch.  I then adhered this directly to the DSP.
All in all, a very simple & clean male card!
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Perfect Punches
Ink – Chocolate Chip
Cardstock – Garden Green, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip
DSP – Woodland Walk
Punches – Extra-Large Oval, Small Star, 1/16″ Handheld Punch
Accessories – Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Grosgrain Ribbon – Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip, Crystal Effects
In the meantime, why not have a go at the sketch yourself – I would love to see the results or better still post them directy to Creative Sketches.
Until next time, Enjoy!
