SC 053/12….

Our challenge this week has been set by Gwen.  It is a great chance to create those Birthday Cards that are always so handy to have in our stash.

For my card I used the Stamp Set – Elements of Style, along with the set from SAB – Elementary Elegance & of course, the mtching Frame to go with the Stamp Set – Four Frames…..
Now, for my card, I’ve killed 2 birds with the one stone!  I also used the challenge to create one of the cards that we are creating in our Technique Class today – Cracked Glass!
Don’t forget to pop on over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Gwen, Kris, Christine & Kathryn have created.  We would love to see what you can come up with using the challenge above.
Until next time, Happy Stampin!

SC 037/12…

The new weekly challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations starts today.  It is an easy one this week, although it did set my mind racing as there are sooooooooo many ways you could create your project by creating a Window in your card!  Yep, Kris has set us a challenge by making a “window in our card“.

I will admit, I based my card around 2 pieces of paper – one being the DSP & the other Soft Suede Cardstock.  I found these 2 pieces already adhered together in with the DSP pack.  Obviously, I had used the remainder of the strip for something else & the piece left was just perfect for a card folded on it’s side.  The piece of Soft Suede Cardstock had even been punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch, so that was an added bonus as far as I was concerned.

I even used a piece of Textured Cardstock for my Base Card which I found in my Textured Drawer of cardstock.  I thought it would take away the blank look of the front of the card while at the same time, giving it a suttle soft feel to the card……..  I wanted the window to be my focus.

Then in the middle of creating my card, the “light bulb” went off & I created the window around a tiny stamp, but all will be revealed as we get further down……..  curious now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elementary Elegance, Elements of Style, Sincere Salutations, En Francais
Ink – Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette
Cardstock – Pink Pirouette Textured, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
DSP – Beau Chateau
Punches – Scallop Edge Border, 1 3/4″ Circle, 2 3/8 Scallop Circle
Ribbon – 1/2 Seam Binding – Very Vanilla
Accessories – Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Dotto, Pearls, Snail Adhesive

Measurements –
Base Card – Pink Pirouette Textured Cardstock – 12″ x 4 1/8″ or 30cm x 10.5cm – Scored in the middle longways & folded in half
Layer 1 – DSP – 1″ x 4 1/8″ or 2.5cm x 10.5cm
Layer 2 – Soft Suede – 1″ x 4 1/8″ or 1.5cm

Once the card had been scored & folded in half, I cut about 1 1/4″ of Cardstock from the front right hand side of the card – the top layer ONLY!!!!!!

Prior to adding my bits down the Right Hand Side of my card, I punched a circle from the front top layer of my card using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch.  I adhered the piece of DSP & Soft Suede Cardstock down the RHS with Snail Adhesive.  I allowed about 1/8″ from the edge of the card showing on the RHS.

My little WOW factor with the little stamped bird inside the card

I punched a circle out of the DSP using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, positioned the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch over the top, ensuring that the DSP was even on all side prior to punching.  Don’t you just love how all SU! punches gel together??????  You should have a scalloped circle ready to be placed over the the window in your card.

I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock for the inside of my card – 4″ x 5 5/8″ & adhered with Snail Adhesive.  A circle was punched from a scrap piece of paper with my 1 3/4″ Circle Punch & placed over the top of the inside layer ensuring that the whole of the Very Vanilla was covered with the scrap paper.  I placed a temporary adhesive to the back of the paper with Dotto so that the paper wouldn’t move around when I stamped.

I inked my script image with Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped over the paper & onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  The excess ink went straight onto the scrap paper.  When I removed the scrap paper, I had a round circle of script on the Very Vanilla Cardstock inside.  This script image appeared through the window when the card was closed.

TIP – To remove any little bits of Dotto on your card, rub gently with Adhesive Remover

See the little wings behind the big bird…..

I adhered my scalloped DSP circle over the top of the window with Tombow, stamped my bird image onto a scrap of Very Vanilla using Soft Suede Ink, cut out & WHAM – the “light bulb” switched on!!!!!!  I adhered the cut out bird  to the top of the DSP scallop circle by his little wing tip with Tombow.  The bird was covering the little bird on the inside & cannot be seen until you open the card…..
As the card was still missing something I tied a knot with Very Vanilla Seam Binding & adhered to the DSP with a Mini Glue Dot.

I decided to stop there, but after putting all my “stuff” away, I eyed my Pearls & thought “why not” – so on with the Pearls down the Scallop Edge Border & of course, 1 for his little eye.

I grabbed a greeting & stamped direct onto the Textured Cardstock with Soft Suede.  It just seemed to balance the card a bit better.

Don’t forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Gwen, Kris & Tess have created, as well as our talented Weekly Guest Designers.
We would love for you to join us as this week, we have decided if we reach 10 entries there will be TWO (2) Ray of Sunshines announced the following Satrday.
Happy Stampin’

SSC 241…

This is the card I created fo rthe new challenge over at Stamping 411.  As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew what I wanted to use & how it should look when I finished.  I wanted to try & create a shabby chic/vintage type card.  I think I have succeeded in getting the results I had in my head.

As usual the operators have provided us with all the basic measurements – all the hard work has been done for us –

Measurements –
Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded in half at 4 1/4″ – Very Vanilla
Layer 2: 4 x 5 1/4″ – Soft Suede
Layer 3: 4″ x 1 1/2″  – DSP
Layer 4: 2 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ – DSP
Layer 5: 2 3/8″ x 2 1/8″ – Very Vanilla

I Heat Embossed my image onto the piece of Soft Suede using Versamark & Clear Embossing Powder.

Envelope & Inside Card…

I adhered the DSP to a piece of Pink Pirouette so that I didn’t have the DSP straight onto the Soft Suede & to break the colours up a little.  I think it looks pretty with the little bit of Pink Pirouette showing as a small edge.  I then adhered this piece to the embossed piece using Snail Adhesive.

The Ribbon was adhered across the top part of the DSP & ends tucked under.  The whole piece was then adhered to the Base Card – Very Vanilla using Snail Adhesive.

Stamping the image onto the small piece using Versamark & Soft Suede Inks, I Heat Embossed it.  Using my Aqua Painter, I gently coloured the images with Pink Pirouette & Wild Wasabi Inks.  I nearly left the leaves clear, but after looking at it for a little time, decided to go ahead & colour them.  I like the little bit of green in the card!

Close Up of Clear Embossing & Flowers…

I applied Pearls to the centres of some of the flowers & adhered both pieces to the card as per the sketch.  I found a couple of small Butterflies that were in my packet of Pink Pirouette already cut out, so I used them on the card.  The large Butterfly was adhered with Multipurpose Glue & 2 small Pearls applied to the centre.  The Butterflies had been cut using the Beatuiful Wings Embosslits Dies.

I stamped my sentiment direct onto a piece of Very Vanilla using my SU Marker – Soft Suede, punched with the Modern Label Punch, dabbed a little Pink Pirouette around the edges, adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals & adhered the small butterfly to the sentiment.  I applied 3 small Pearls to the punched piece – 1 in the centre of the Butterfly & 2 to replace the “o” in the words.

Lastly, I tied a bow & applied to the card with Mini Glue Dots.

When I saw this sketch, it is very similar to a scrapbook layout I have completed for  a class I have this month, which I will post once the class is finished.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style, A Word for You
Ink – Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, Versamark, Wild Wasabi
Cardstock – Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
DSP – Beau Chateau
Embosslits Dies – Beautiful Wings
Punches – Modern Label
Ribbon – 1/2″ Seam Binding  – Very Vanilla
Accessories – Aqua Painter, Snail Adhesive, Heat Tool,
Pearls, Stampin’ Dimensionals, SU Marker – Soft Suede

Amber…

I hope you are not getting tired of my scrapbook pages, but I am really enjoying getting back into it again.  It certainly helps when you have been supplied with beautiful photos to work with.
This photo was taken by my niece, Dannielle.  It is of her twin sister “Amber”.  It is such a beautiful photo which captures her to a “T“, that I had to put it to paper!
I don’t usually copy layouts, but liked this one so much that I did copy the majority of it, but then started doing my own thing to finish it off.  I’ve taken the layout from the current Catalogue 2011-2012, Page 102.  That is the great thing about Stampin’ Up! Catalogues.  Not only are they full of products, but brilliant ideas as well!  Stuck for ideas, head straight for any of the catalogues.
I cut the piece of DSP prior to layering it onto Marina Mist Textured Cardstock.  The larger piece of DSP was then adhered over the top.
I punched a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock using my Bigshot & the Circles #2 Die.  I punched a piece of Marina Mist Cardstock using my 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle & adhered the 2 together prior to adhering onto the DSP.  I didn’t mat my photo this time & it is taking some time for me to get use to, as I always do this.  It gives a different look anyhow.
I grabbed 3 different size flowers – could be Stampin’ Up! but am not sure, adhered together prior to adhering to the top of the Scallop Circle.  The photo was then adhered to the page.  I found a couple of coloured Rhinestones laying around in a bottom drawer & stuck one to the middle of the top flower.  These things pop up everywhere!  I have even found a couple attached to the dog from time to time!
A piece of Marina Mist Cardstock was punched along one side with the Scallop Edge Border Punch, adhered to the edge of the photo before a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock was adhered over th etop.
I punched a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using my Modern Label Punch, wrote Amber’s name & year with the Basic Black SU Marker & adhered to the piece of Soft Suede Cardstock.  I applied 2 of the Rhinestones to either side of the label.
I then adhered a piece of Crocheted Trim across the bottom of the photo, tied a bow, attached a Rhinestone Brad to the centre & adhered using a Mini Glue Dot.
Tip – Don’t be afraid to adhere “stuff” to your photos.  You will be pleasantly surprised of the result!
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Nil
Ink – Nil
Cardstock – Textured Marina Mist, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede
DSP – Beau Chateau
Punches – 2 3/8: Scallop Circle, Modern Label
Dies – Circles # 2
Ribbon – Crochet Trim – Victoria
Accessories – Rhinestone Brad – Light Blue, Flowers, SU Marker – Basic Black,
 Snail Adhesive, Mini Glue Dots
Non-SU – Flowers, Blue Rhinestones
Until next time, Enjoy!

Scrapbooking…

After completing my page for the current challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations me being me, I had to complete a matching page. There is still time to play along.

Again, I’ve taken Dannielle & Chris as the focus & all I’ve done is flip the page 90 deg & added a bit of a heading.

It is merely the same as the posting here.

For my heading, I printed onto Whisper White Cardstock, punched with the Decorative Label Punch & then again in Night of Navy.  This piece I cut in half lengthways & adhered to the top & bottom prior to adhering to page.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style
Ink – Night of Navy
Cardstock – Soft Suede – Textured, Night of Navy, Whisper White
DSP – Beau Chateau
Punches – Decorative Label
Ribbon – 1/2″ Seam Binding – Baja Breeze, 3/8″ Raffeta – Night of Navy
Accessories – Flowers, Rhinestones, Snail Adhesive, SU Dimensionals

Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 019/11…

This week for the new challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations I decided to go another way.  Mind you, this wasn’t until I had all my stuff to create my card sitting on the desk.  After desicovering that the DSP – Beau Chhateau goes with the Stamp Set Elements of Style & wanting to use both, I then did a complete switch & scrapped a page for my album.

The page is from Dannille’s mum’s wedding recently held in October where both her & Amber were bridesmaids.  The photos are so beautiful that it just seemed a shame not to do something with them.  This one is of Dannielle & her fiancé, Chris.

Once I had decided to go with the colours Chris was wearing, I again grabbed the DSP – Beau Chateau & the matching stamp set Elements of Style to complete my page.

I cut 1″ off 2 sides of the DSP so that it measured 11″ x 11″ square & adhered it to Soft Suede Cardstock.

Rhinestones & Stamped Image…

After printing the photo, I left a small white margin right around the photo.  Usually I like to have a matching cardstock border but this way I can bring the white of Dannii’s dress into the layout without having to use Whisper White Cardstock

Prior to adhering the Night of Navy Cardstock to the DSP, I adhered a piece of Seam Binding Ribbon across the centre & then  a piece of Taffeta Ribbon over the top.

I layered 3 different size Flowers together, placed a Brad in the centre of each & adhered them to the LHS of the photo with SU Dimensionals.

Rhinestones & Flowers…

To finish the page, I adhered Rhinestones to the top & bottom LHS of the page.  The Rhinestones go well with Dannielle’s jewellery.

I am really happy with this page, as it is not too fussy or over the top, just like the beautiful dress she is wearing, while catching the colours in Chris’ clothes.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style
Ink – Night of Navy
Cardstock – Soft Suede – Textured, Night of Navy
Ribbon – Seam Binding – Baja Breeze, Taffeta – Night of Navy
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Rhinestones, Flowers Brads – Night of Navy
Don’t forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & check out what both Kris & Gwen have created.  Better still, sit down during the week & create something yourself using the sketch provided, but with no Sentiment or Greeting.  You could be the next Ray of Sunshine.
Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 012/11…

A new challenge is up & running over at Sunny Challenges & Creations
This week, it was my turn to set the challenge & with our challenges we don’t just get the sketch, but a 2nd part too, that being Flowers, Flowers, Flowers.  How easy can it be!!!!  We all love making cards with flowers.  Let’s face it – they are the easiest cards to make!
Now on with my card –
Base Card – Soft Suede – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – score @ 4 1/8″ or 10.47cm & fold in half
Layer 1 – Pink Pirouette – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Very Vanilla – 5 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 14xm x 10.5cm
Layer 3 – Soft Suede – 4″ x 1 1/4″ or 10cm x 3cm
Layer 4 – DSP – 4″ x 1 1/4″ or 10cm x 3cm
Close Up of Embossing
Using my Embossing Buddy, I rubbed it over the piece of Very Vanilla, stamped my image onto Versamark & then Pink Pirouette Ink before stamping it onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I poured Clear Embossing Powder over the image, tapped off excess & applied Dazzling Diamonds on top, tapped excess off & heat set with my Heat Tool.  You are not able to see the Dazzling Diamonds in the photo, but it does sparkle in real life.
I cut this piece into 3 equal pieces & adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette using my Snail Adhesive
I repeated the same technique for my senitment, except I used Soft Suede Ink.  This was stamped directly onto the piece of DSP.  I tore both sides of the DSP & adhered to the piece of Soft Suede Cardstock
Tip – When tearing DSP or Cardstock, ensure you tear it towards you.  This way you will get the torn section showing on your work

Card Inside…

I adhered a piece of Ribbon along the bottom of the DSP, tied a bow, applied 3 Basic Pearls & adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette Cardstock.
The Pink Pirouette Cardstock was then adhered to the Base Card – Soft Suede.
Wow, after reading this, it sort of come together really easy, but believe me, it took me a little longer to figure out what I was actually going to do for this sketch.
For my Inside, I again tore a piece of DSP, adhered to a piece of Soft Suede & then to Very Vanilla prior to adhering to inside of card.  I wanted a small piece of Very Vanilla showing at the bottom – see photo.  It broke the Soft Sude on Soft Suede.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style, So Happy for You
Ink – Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, Versamark
Cardstock – Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla
DSP – Beau Chateau
Ribbon – 5/8″ Taffeta – Very Vanilla
Accessories – Basic Pearls, Snail Adhesive, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy,
Embossing Powder – Clear, Dazzling Diamonds
