New Class….

G’Day Stampers,

At our Christmas Party last year, we got to talking about recipes & one of the ladies asked if it was possible if we could swap recipes at our Friday class……  I immediately said I didn’t have a problem with it & after some thinking & how to go about it, today starts a new class which will be held the last Friday of the month.

I am really excited about this venture, as I want to create pages that resemble cards, not the traditional recipe pages, while at the same time, still doing different techniques, layouts, etc.  We will be completing 2 pages per month & maybe some months a couple of extra pages.

Now, this is a big step for me as I will be the first to acknowledge I HATE cooking!!!!!  Yep, I cannot understand how people can be so passionate about it, but when you love it, you LOVE it!!!!  I suppose they would say the same about my craft!  To me cooking is just a means of surviving, but I love all those cooking shows & the kitchen shops…..  I would be quiet happy to have a home with NO kitchen & if I have to cook, the Barbie would be enough for me, as I LOVE barbies…..

The layout for this page came from Peg sometime ago.  I thought it clean & easy, perfect colours for our first card as well as a yummy Homemade Vegetable Soup…….  Not the traditional winter colours, but bright & cherry!

Maybe, just maybe, I may be tempted to try some of the recipes…..  Maybe????????

Faux Wood…

Envelope & Inside…

I love how easy this card come together.  The technique is fantastic & very easy to complete.  Makes for a great male card – we all have trouble with creating them sometimes.

This will be one of the cards we are going to create in our next technique class – details below – “Faux Wood“…..

I’ve used colours that are not normally used in the everyday wood you see around the place, as I wanted to try someting different & to see if I could create a completely different look.  To lift the colours a little, I decided to add a little bit of Real Red.  I’m glad I did, as it brough the whole card alive, including the background.

?I want the card to be for a male, but instead of for the traditional stamps, eg cars, trees, etc, I thought “why not a Rosette?”  Who says these can’t be for the males?  I’m really happy with the final result, but would love to hear what you think.

SC 058/12…

Our challenge this week is to use Black & White only on our cards as well as going by the sketch.  Usually I don’t have a problem with this sort of thing, but for the life of me, hard a hard time.  Thanks Kris!

Measurements –
Base Card – Basic Black – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – Scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 – Basic Black – 5 3/8″ x 2 1/4″ or 13.5cm x 5.5cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Happiest Birthday Wishes (Retired)
Ink – Basic Black, Versamark
Cardstock – Whisper White, Basic Black
DSP – Neutrals Designer Packs (Basic Black)
Punches – 1″ Circle, 1 1/4″ Circle, Scallop Circle, Scallop Border Trim
Embossing Folder – Square Lattice
Accessories – Stampin’ Dimensionals, Simply Scoring Tool, Big Shot, Tombow Multi Purpose Glue, Heat Tool, Embossing Powder – Clear, Bone Folder, Sticky Strip

Technique – Faux Leather

My piece of Whisper White was run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder prior to adhering to the Base Card – Basic Black.

Prior to adhering the piece of Basic Black to the card, I applied the Faux Leather Technique to it, punched along one of the edges with the Scallop Trim Border Punch & adhered to the Card with Tombow Glue.

For my Rosette, I cut a 12″ strip of DSP at 1 1/4″ wide, scored with my Simply Scoring Tool, punched along one edge with the Scallop Trim Border Punch & put together with Sticky Strip prior to adhering to the Base Card.

I stamped my sentiment twice onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock, punched 1 with the Scallop Circle & the middle of the 2nd one with the 1″ Circle Punch.  I adhered the smaller piece to the large piece with a Stampin’ Dimensional prior to adhering to the Rosette with Tombow Multi Purpose Glue.

A very easy & simple card but a couple of different techniques to complete my card.

Don’t forget to pop over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Kris, Gwen, Christine & Carole  have created for you.  We would love for you to play along as well.

Have a great week with heaps of stampin’

Class….

??????????Our card last Friday at Crafty Creations was to do the Technique – Basic Masking.  I choice to go with Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery & Pink Pirouette– not colours I would normally put together, but I am really loving the final result.  Mind you, when I started the card, I had no idea where I was going, only knowing that I wanted to use the stamps I had sitting on my desk.

????
Inside Card….

I am also finding myself going back to the softer colours which I think are sadly being neglected – by me anyhow!
?
Measurements –
Base Card – Chocolate Chip – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 – Certainly Celery – 5 3/8″ x 3 5/8″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 5 1/8″ x 3 3/8″ or 13cm x 8.5cm
Layer 3 – Pink Pirouette – 3″ x 2″ or 8cm x 5cm
Layer 4 – Certainly Celery – 3″ x 2 3/8″ or 7.5cm x 6cm
Layer 5 – Whisper White – 2 7/8″ x 2 1/4″ or 7cm x 5.5cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Summer Solstice, En Francis, Short & Sweet
Ink – Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery
Cardstock – Whisper White, Chocoate Chip, Pink Pirouette, Certainly Celery, Glossy
DSP – Neutrals Designer Series Paper
Ribbon – 5/8″ Satin – Certainly Celery
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Rhinestones, Sponge, Dotto, Mni-Glue Dots

I adhered a piece of Ribbon across the middle of the DSP, tucked ends under, adhered to the piece of Certainly Celery & finally to the Base Card – Chocolate Chip, all with Snail Adhesive.

The piece of Pink Pirouette Cardstock was torn along the bottom, sponged across the tear & around the edges & adheredd over the top of the Ribbon using Snail Adhesive.

I stamped my flower image onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped again onto a scrap piece of paper, cut it out & used this one piece for my Mask.  While the stamp was inked in Pink Pirouette, I again stamped onto a scrap piece of Glossy Cardstock, cut out & set aside.  This was by accident as I didn’t realise it was glossy until I was cutting it out, but decided to leave it the way it was.

I stamped the leaf images around the flower & created 2 Masks for the leaves.

After applying Dotto to the back of my Masks, I adhered them over the matching images prior to inking my background stamp in Chocolate Chip, stamping off twice & then stamping onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock & over the masked images.

This piece was adhered to the piece of Certainly Celery & finally to the Base Card.  I adhered the Glossy image to the top of the stamped image with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some Dazzling Diamonds to the middle with my 2-Way Glue Pen & popped a Rhinestone in the middle.

I tied a bow with the Ribbon & adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.  The sentiment was stamped onto the bottom of the piece of Pink Pirouette in Chocolate Chip Ink.

Until next time, have a great day!

SC 045/12…

The new weekly challenges begins today over at Sunny Challenges & Creations & it was my turn to create the challenge.  This time round, along with the sketch, it is to use Ribbon on your layout.  How easy can it get?

My card has been created for a friend of mine who is celebrating her birthday today.  As she lives on acreage, I decided to go with colours that best represent the bush in Australia – Green, Gold & Brown.  I’ve never used these colours together & really like the effect they have created.

On the spur of the moment, I decided to try & use a Stampin’ Up! Wheel somehow in the design.

Measurements –
Base Card – Daffodil Delight – 8 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 – DSP – 5 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 2 – Old Olive – 4 1/2″ x 1 5/8″ or 11.5cm x 4cm
Layer 3 – Whisper White – 4 3/8″ x 1 1/2″ or 11cm x 3.5cm
Layer 4 – Old Olive – 3 1/8″ x 2″ or 8cm x 5cm
Layer 5 – Whisper White – 3″ x 1 7/8″ or 7.5cm  4.5cm

Supplies –
Stamp Sets – Field Flowers, Vintage Vogue, Sincere Salutations

Ink – Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Soft Suede

Cardstock – Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Old Olive, Soft Suede
DSP – Neutrals
Wheel – Very Vintage
Punches – Scallop Oval, Large Oval
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Ribbon – 5/8″ Satin – Old Olive
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals, SU! Markers – Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Blender Pen, Bigshot, Pearls

Inking my Wheel, I ran it over the long piece of Whisper White Cardstock, ensuring that the image was up the correct way, which meant that I had to run the wheel across the Card 3/4 times, ensuring coverage was all over.

Grabbing my Blender Pen & a Stampin’ Up! Marker – Daffodil Delight, I coloured the flower from the wheel.  As I didn’t want this part of the card to be the main focal point, I left it as is.  This piece was then adhered to the longer piece of Old Olive Cadstock with Snail Adhesive.

Inking up the stem image with SU! Marker – Old Olive, I stamped it direct to the smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock, run it through the Bigshot using the Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots, adhered it to the piece of Old Olive Cardstock using Snail Adhesive & finally to the piece of DSP ensuring I followed the sketch before adhering DSP with Multipurpose Glue.

I stamped 3 large flower images with Daffodil Delight onto Whisper White Cardstock & 3 using Soft Suede.  These were cut out prior to attaching to the card with Snail Adhesive for the front flower & Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals for the back 2 flowers.  All 3 smaller flower images were adhered to the middle of the larger flowers with Snail Adhesive.

I run a piece of Satin Ribbon across the bottom part of the DSP, tucked ends under, tied a knot & adhered the whole lot to the Base Card – Daffodil Delight with Snail Adhesive.

The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock in Old Olive Ink, punched using the Large Oval Punch, adhered to a piece of Daffodil Delight piece which had been punch with the Scallop Oval Punch & finally to the card with Snail Adhesive.

I popped 3 Pearls into the centre of each small flower to finish

I hope you will join us this week.  Don’t forget to pop over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & check out what Kris, Gwen & our Guest Designer for the week – Sarah – have created.

 Have a great day!
