At Last….

Where does the time go?????  I have realised it is nearly a week since my last post !!!!

For our card this arvo, we used the Techinque – Crayon Resist.  It doesn’t matter how often I see this technique, I never seem to tire of it.

It is not my usual card, but I thought I would try & start using some of the colours that I don’t usually go for & this being one of the combinations that just happened.  The tutorial may be found on this post.  The layout of the card has been around for sometime, but I wanted something easy to start off the new year!

Measurements –
Base Card – Tempting Turquoise Cardstock – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – Scored in middle & folded in half
Layer 1 – Early Expresso Cardstock – 5 7/8″ x 2 3/4″ or 7cm x 15cm
Layer 2 – Glossy Cardstock – 5 7/8″ x 2 1/2″ or 7cm x 6cm

Inside…

?I randomly stamped my images onto the Glossy Cardstock using Staz-On Ink & allowed to dry.

Using a White Wax Crayon, I randomly coloured around stamped areas that I wanted to keep white.  I then grabbed my sponge, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Yellow & Regal Rose Inks, & sponged all over the card until such time I had all the white coloured & I was happy with the result.  Once it was all dry, I buffed using a tissue.
I adhered the Glossy Card to the piece of Early Expresso Cardstock & tied a piece of Ribbon around the end.  I stamped my greeting onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock in Early Expresso Ink, punched it out with my Decorative Label Punch.  As I wanted to add a small border around the white, I punched 2 pieces of Early Expresso Cardstock with the same punch & cut both these pieces in half, one crossway & the other downways.  I adhered 3 of the 4 pieces to the greeting piece.

I then adhered the top of the greeting to the back of the stamped flower piece prior to adhering to the card.  I applied 3 Rhinestones to the bottom of the card.

One for a Challenge…

… but too late.

I created this card for a challenge which didn’t make the deadline, but not too worry.  The challenge called for a clean & simple (CAS) card & as I had my embossing stuff out, thought I would do a little embossing.  I also dug out one of my favourite stamps & dusted the dust off of it.

Base Card – Poppy Parade – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 15cm x 10.5cm – once scored & folded in half
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Wild Wasabi – 4″ x 1″ or 10cm x 2.5cm
Layer 3 – DSP – 4″ x 1 1/2″ or 10cm x 4cm
Layer 4 – Blushing Bride – 3 5/8″ x 2 1/2″ or 9cm x 6cm
Layer 5 – Crumb Cake – 3 1/2″ x 2 3/8″ or 8.5cm x 5.5cm

Using the Eyelet Border Punch, I punched along one longer side of Wild Wasabi Cardstock & adhered to the LHS of Whisper White Cardstock.  The DSP strip of paper was adhered over the top of the punched edge.  The whole piece was then adhered to the Base Card using Snail Adhesive.

Inside…

I rubbed my Embossing Buddy over the piece of Crumb Cake, stamped my image with Versamark, poured White Embossing Powder over the top, tapped excess powder from the cardstock & set it using my Heat Tool.  This piece was the adhered to the piece of Blushing Bride & finally to the Base Card.

My flowers are from my stack I have in a drawer, they could be SU or they may not be.  I do know that I had dyed a couple of flowers sometime ago using Re-Inkers.  So being a little lazy & not wanting to hunt for my flowers, I used the first couple I laid my hands on.  I adhered the white flower to the smaller of the pink flowers & stuck a Pink Rhinestone in the middle.  Again, the rhinestone was from a stash I have on hand for my wedding invitations.

For my sentiment, I stamped it onto a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock using Wild Wasabi Ink & punched the centre out with my 1″ Circle Punch.  I adhered this to the centre of the large flower using SU Dimensionals.  Both flowers were adhered to the card with SU Dimensionals with the larger flower at the front.

SFF071511…

I found this sketch over at Sketch Frenzy Friday & immediatly thought of Fifth Avenue Floral & Great Friend.  This is one of my favourites, but then I think most of my sets are, including ones I don’t have – lol.
Base Card – Rich Razzleberry – 4 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 – Old OLive – 4 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 4 5/8″ x 9.5cm
Layer 3 – Old Olive – 4 5/8″ x 1″ or 9.5cm x 2.5cm
Using Inks of Rich Razzleberry & Old Olive, I randomly stamped 2 different images onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I then adhered the small piece of  Old Olive Cardstock down the LHS of the Whisper White, layered a piece of Pumpkin Pie Satin Ribbon down the middle, followerd by a piece of Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon on top of that & tied a bow towards the top.

Inside Card

?

I stamped the sentiment using Rich Razzleberry & adhered to Old Olive Cardstock which had been punched using my Modern Label Extra Large Punch.  I adhered to the top RHS of the card using SU Dimensionals.
I punched a piece of Whisper White Cardstock using my 1 3/4″ Extra Large Circle Punch & with Old Olive Ink, stamped some leaf images.  I also stamped off while doing these too.  This was adhered to a piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock which had been punched using my Extra Large Scallop Circle Punch. For the white dots, I did these with my Gel Pen.
I stamped 2 butterfly images onto Whisper White Cardstock using Rich Razzleberry Ink, cut them out , applied a couple of Basic Rhinestones down the middle, curled them a little & adhered to the circle using SU Dimensionals.  I also added a couple of Rhinestones to the words in my sentiment.
These are colours I don’t usually go for, but I am trying to think outside the box a little.  Mind you, I don’t know how long it will last, but am quiet enjoying the different colours for the moment.

An Old Favourite…

It has been some time since I’ve used one of my favourite stamps – 5th Avenue Floral.  With some stamps, it doesn’t seem to matter how you use them you are guaranteed that your card will always come up “roses” – so to speak.

I’ve never attempted a “Step Card” before & as usual I didn’t go by any instructions to make mine, although there are heaps of instructions & tutorials out in blog land for you to follow.  I also made mine to fit our standard envelope in Australia.  As I really enjoyed making this type of card, I don’t think it will be my last.

Cut A4 Cardstock – Bashful Blue – 11 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ or 29.5cm x 15cm

Back section of card for your greeting or note…
Score & fold from bottom along the longer side at 1″, 2″, 4″, 6″ & 10 1/4″ or 2.5cm, 5cm, 10cm, 15cm & 26cm

Cut Bashful Blue Cardstock 5 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ or 15cm x 10.5cm
Adhere to back section of card – will give you a section for your card to fold out & stand
Cut 2 pieces of Wild Wasabi Cardstock – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm & adhere 1 piece to the above section of card
Cut 2 pieces of Whisper White Cardstock 5 5/8″ x 3 7/8″ x 14cm x 9.5cm – stamp image onto 1 piece of card & adhere to Wild Wasabi
This section is the part you are able to write your greeting onto ie the inside of a normal card

Back Section
I randomly stamped my images onto the 2nd piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue & Crumb Cake Inks.  After dying my Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon with Crumb Cake Re-Inker & allowing to dry, I adhered this across the top half of the Whisper White Cardstock, adhered to Wild Wasabi & then to the Base Card.  I tied a bow & adhered this to the card too.

Middle Section
I stamped the wording using Crumb Cake Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock, cut it out & adhered to Wild Wasabi, which was then adhered to the middle section.  I allowed a little bit of the wording sit above the fold, instead of flat against the card.  I made 2 flowers using retired Felt Flowers, small white flower which I dyed using Bashful Blue Re-Inker & a Silver Brad.  These were attached to the centre section of the card.

Front Section
I cut a small piece of Wild Wasabi Cardstock & adhered to the Bashful Blue.  Using the Scallop Oval Punch & Crumb Cake Cardstock, I punched a piece of Whisper White which I had stamped the sentiment using Wild Wasabi Ink, & adhered to the Scallop punched piece.  I used the Large Oval Punch for the Whisper White.  I again dyed 3 small white flowers using the Bashful Blue Re-Inker, applied a silver brad in each & adhered to the card.

I’ve used a couple of retired products making this card, but they are able to be substituted for current products.  The flowers come from a big box of misc flowers – pre-SU – I have & dye from time to time so that I am able to use them up.
