The Paper Funday January Challenge | Sketch Layout

G’Day Friends,

Welcome to 2026 & to our very first the Paper Funday Challenges of the year.  Our sponsors this month are Taylored Expressions and Sweet November Stamps.

As usual we always have a twist for all our challenges & this month is a sketch layout.  Oh, I love my sketches.  I’ve created a clean and simple card keeping the design minimal and calming, letting the seashell images and soft colouring take centre stage.

Clean & Simple Design

For this card, I focused on lots of white space and a straightforward layout.  A single focal panel sits on the card base, keeping the overall design uncluttered and easy on the eyes.  Clean & simple cards are some of my favourites because they highlight the details without feeling busy.

Seashell Focal Cluster

The seashells are the star of the card.  I coloured them with alcohol markers in soft neutrals, adding gentle shading for dimension.  Keeping the colouring light helps maintain the clean & simple style while still adding depth and dimension to the images.  A loose cluster of shells overlaps the focal panel, creating movement and visual interest.  A small sentiment banner off-centre finishes the design.

Supply List

  • Seashells Stamp Set & Dies – Pretty Pink Posh
  • Basic White Smooth Cardstock – Paper Rose Studio
  • Lemon Lolly cardstock – Stampin’ Up!
  • Copic Markers
  • Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Embellishment
  • Stitched Shapes Dies – Stampin’ Up!

Finishing Touches

To finish the card, I added a small sentiment that complements the simple design without overpowering it.  Three small white embellishment have been added to the circle so as not to overtake the shells & colouring.

Final Thoughts

This project was a great reminder that combining a sketch layout, simple colouring and  embossing can result in a timeless design.  Seashells add a peaceful, elegant touch that feels right year-round.

Thanks so much for stopping by today – I hope this inspires you to pull out your markers and embossing folders and give this sketch a try!

Seeing Out 2025 | A Favourite Project from Each Month

G’Day Friends,

As I see out 2025, I wanted to take a moment to look back and celebrate the creative journey this year has been.

From handmade cards to mini albums and special design team projects, each month brought something a little different — new ideas, favourite techniques and projects that truly sparked joy at the time.

I’ve chosen one favourite project from each month of 2025 to share here.  Some were made just for the love of creating, others for teams or challenges, but all of them hold special memories and reflect where my creativity was in that moment.

Thank you to everyone who followed along, left kind comments and supported my crafting throughout the year.

Here’s to creativity, community and all the inspiration that 2026 will bring.

2025 Advent Calendar | Uniquely Creative | Days 1 & 2

G’Day Friends,

Welcome to the start of my 2025 Advent Calendar series!

I’m so excited to share my first project where I’ve combined Days 1 & 2 to create 1 simple, creative & easy card for you.  The Botanical Chronicles Collection is just 1 of the 2 collections found in this Advent Calendar by Uniquely Creative.  Believe me, it is truely gorgeous.

Whether you’re working with the same paper collection or using whatever you already have tucked away in your craft drawers, the card is truly made for everyone.

 Day 1 & 2 Easy Card

I’ve created a quick and easy handmade card by combining Days 1 & 2 – perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a 10-minute creative moment.
This project focuses on simple shapes, layered papers and clean composition.  No special tools required!  If you have paper scraps, stickers, ribbon or even leftover die cuts, you’re already set.

What you can use:
Anything in your stash!  This is the perfect project to mix and match leftovers.

Free PDF Tutorial

I’ve added a step-by-step PDF for Days 1 & 2 that you can download right here:

The PDF includes:

  • Cutting measurements

  • Layering guides

  • Project tips

Use What You Have

One of my goals this month is to encourage more stash-busting and mindful crafting.  You don’t need to buy anything new – pull out your paper collection, scrap bin and embellishment drawer and let yourself play.

The project is intentionally simple so you can adapt them to your own supplies and style.

Let’s Craft Together

If you create either project, tag me!  I love seeing your versions and how you use your own stash to bring these ideas to life.

Until next time – stay inspired & keep creating!
