Elegant Gift Card Holder | Small Poinsettia Dies | Pink Faux Glitter Paper

G’Day Friends,

Gift cards may be small, but the way you present them can make them feel every bit as special as a wrapped box under the tree.  Today I’m sharing a beautifully elegant gift card holder that works not only for Christmas, but truly for any occasion throughout the year.  It’s one of those projects that looks fancy and intricate – yet comes together surprisingly quickly thanks to a few standout supplies: the gorgeous Small Poinsettia Craft Dies and some stunning Pink Faux Glitter Paper.  You can shop these supplies from Kat Scrappiness.

A Fresh Take on Holiday Crafting

When we think of poinsettias, we usually picture the deep reds and greens of traditional Christmas décor.  But crafting lets us reimagine classics and this project does exactly that.  By cutting the poinsettia layers from white cardstock & laying onto the pink faux glitter paper, the familiar Christmas bloom suddenly feels modern, soft and elegant.  The faux glitter texture adds sparkle without the mess, giving the flower a beautiful shine that catches the light from any angle.

Layering the petals creates a pretty dimensional effect and mixing shades of pink or adding a vellum layer can elevate it even further.  Whether you leave the centre simple or embellish it with pearls, gems or metallic cardstock, the poinsettia becomes a luxe focal point.

The Gift Card Holder

The holder itself is clean and simple—designed to let the flower shine.  A sturdy cardstock base forms the pocket, and you can decorate it with patterned paper, embossed panels or coordinating glitter accents.

This basic structure is incredibly versatile.  Swap out the sentiment, change the colour palette, or use themed patterned papers to make versions for birthdays, weddings, thank-yous, teacher gifts or even baby showers.  The poinsettia die cuts remain beautiful year-round when cut from non-Christmas colours.

Why This Project Works

  • It looks luxurious, thanks to the gorgeous stitched white poinsettia centerpiece.
  • It’s easy to recreate, even if you’re short on time.
  • It uses small scraps, especially for the die-cut florals.
  • It’s adaptable for any occasion, simply by changing the paper or sentiment.
  • It turns a simple gift card into something heartfelt and handmade.

Perfect for Crafting Ahead

If you enjoy building a stash of ready-to-go handmade items, this project is perfect.  Create a batch of poinsettias in different colours – pink, white, gold, blue or even classic red – and keep them on hand to embellish gift card holders whenever you need one.

Whether you’re crafting for Christmas or simply looking for a beautiful, all-occasion presentation, this poinsettia gift card holder is sure to bring joy to both the maker and the recipient.

#WCMD2025 | Small Poinsettia Craft Dies | Non-Traditional Colours

G’Day Friends,

There’s nothing better than celebrating World Card Making Day then by creating something handmade and full of festive cheer.  Today, I’m sharing project #3 that combines the small poinsettia craft dies with the lovely Blue Glitter 6 x 6 Double Sided Premium Cardstock  by Kat Scrappinessbut with a twist!  Instead of classic reds and greens, I’ve gone for non-traditional colours to give this holiday design a fresh, modern look.

Why Non-Traditional Colours?

Sometimes it’s fun to step away from the traditional Christmas palette and play with softer tones, unexpected hues or even pastels.  Using non-traditional colours can make your Christmas cards feel unique and truly stand out.

The Design

  • Small Poinsettia Craft Dies:  These delicate flowers layer beautifully and add instant festive flair – especially all white

  • Pattern Paper:  A mix of textures and designs brings depth to the background – check out all that lovely glittler

  • Layout Inspiration:  I used a clean sketch design that highlights the focal point while keeping the overall card balanced – to me, simple is always best, especially with lots of lovely layers
