Just for Him Tuesday | Male Card Inspiration

G’Day Crafty Friends,

I know some of us have trouble creating for the males in our lives which means a new series is starting as from today!  New inspiration for the males will be posted every 2nd Tuesday of each month along with a FREE PDF Tutorial.

Welcome to Just for Him Tuesday – your dose of inspiration dedicated to creating thoughtful, stylish cards just for him.  Whether you’re crafting for birthdays, Father’s Day or “just because,” masculine designs don’t have to feel limiting – they can be bold, meaningful and full of personality.

Rethinking Male Cards

Designing cards for men often comes with the question – Where do I start?
The key is to focus on elements that feel grounded and intentional –

  • Neutral tones like Kraft, Navy, Charcoal and deep Greens for example
  • Textures such as woodgrain, metal accents or stitched details
  • Clean layouts with strong focal points

Less florals, more structure – but still plenty of creativity.

Tips for Creating Masculine Cards

  • Keep it structured – Use grids, straight lines and balanced layers
  • Limit embellishments – Choose a few impactful pieces instead of many small ones
  • Play with dimension – Foam tape, layered panels and embossed textures add depth without fuss
  • Typography matters – Bold fonts or typewriter styles work beautifully

Cards by Design # 4 | Daisy Whispers Collection

G’day Crafty Friends,

There’s something so comforting about creating a handmade card, especially when it’s meant to lift someone’s spirits.  Today’s project is a soft and cheerful “Feel Better Soon” card featuring the beautiful Daisy Whispers Paper Collection.  With delicate florals, gentle colours and a clean sketch layout, this card came together easy while still feeling thoughtful and special.

Starting with the Sketch

For this design, I followed the Cards by Design #4 & focused on the lovely pattern paper and a central focal point.  Sketches are such a great starting point when you want to create but don’t want to overthink the design.

Building the Card

Once the layers were adhered, I arranged & adhered the fussy-cut butterflies from the cover of the Pattern Paper Collection thereby creating a focal area.  A simple sentiment – “Feel Better Soon” – keeps the message clear and heartfelt.  I added a couple of Embellishment which helps draw the eye to the centre.

Nothing too flashy, just enough to complement the softness of the design.

G’Day Crafty Friends,

There’s something quietly powerful about sending someone a handmade card.  And when that card is filled with soft textures, delicate embossed flowers and thoughtful folds, it becomes more than paper – it becomes a keepsake.

Today’s inspiration is a fun fold card created with the lovely Words of Wisdom Collection by Paper Rose Studio, designed to surprise and delight from the very first touch.

The Beauty of Embossing

The coordinating Embossed Die CutsFloral & Inspiration packs brings the card to life in a way ink alone cannot.  Run your fingers across the surface and you’ll feel it.

Final Thought

A handmade card is more than a project – it’s a gesture of connection.  In a world that moves quickly, it invites someone to slow down, open and feel appreciated.

So fold the paper, emboss the flowers and send your wishes out into the world.
Because sometimes, a small card can carry a very big message.
