Birthday Quokka Card | Cute, Colourful & Full of Fun!

G’Day Friends,

I have a Creative Affiliate Team project to share with you for Kat Scrappiness.

Not only that, I’m happy to say that Cards by Design are back bigger & better!  This is where you receive a Sketch Layout, along with the PDF Tutorial to create with over & over.  Be sure to click on the Tutorial below to download our very 1st one.

If there’s one thing cuter than a quokka, it’s a birthday quokka surrounded by balloons! Today I’m sharing a cheerful birthday card that combines happy vibes, bright colours and lots of texture using a coordinated craft collection.

The Star of the Card: A Happy Quokka

This adorable happy quokka comes from the stamp set included in the collection.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink before colouring the face & ballon with alcohol markers, focusing on the little face & balloon only!  I wanted to bring out that signature quokka smile.  A little pink on the cheeks adds extra charm and personality.

Paper Piecing with Patterned Paper

One of my favourite techniques for this project was paper piecing.  I used patterned paper from the collection to create a little shirt.  This is such a fun way to add colour and interest without having to colour every element by hand.

The patterned paper is from the Hundred Acre Quokka Collection but works beautifully together, making it easy to mix and match designs while keeping the look cohesive.  The balloons both in the papers & image instantly add a festive feel and help frame the quokka as the focal point.

Coordinating Dies Make It Easy

The dies perfectly match the stamp set, which makes assembling the card quick and satisfying.  Everything layers smoothly and popping up a few elements with foam tape adds dimension and a playful finish.

Supply List

A Perfect Birthday Make

This card is ideal for birthdays of all ages—who wouldn’t smile at a quokka holding a balloon? The combination of alcohol marker colouring, paper piecing, ink blending and coordinating supplies makes this project both fun to create and visually impactful.
