SC 04612…

Do you ever have a hard time trying to create something?  You know what you want in your head but putting it down on paper can be something entirely different. I really had no idea where I was going with this card when I started, but kept plugging along, playing with colours, checking out stamp sets & working out what will look best with what….

I also decided to go back to the colours when I started out with Stampin’ Up!

This week’s challenge has been bought to us by Gwen.  It is to create a Centre Fold Card using the sketch provided.

Measurements –
Base Card – Certainly Celery – 8 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – Scored at 2 1/8″ & 6 1/8″ & folded towards the middle on both sides
Layer 1 x 2 – Not Quite Navy – 2″ x 5 5/8″ or 5cm x 14.5cm
Layer 2 x 2 – Whisper White – 1 7/8″ x 5 1/2″ or 4.5cm x 14cm
Layer 3 – Bashful Blue – 3 1/8″ x 2 1/2″ or 8cm x 6.5cm
Layer 4 – So Saffron – 3″ x 2 3/8″ or 7.5cm x 6cm
Layer 5 – Whisper White – 2 7/8″ x 2 1/4″ or 7cm x 5.5cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Pocket Silhouettes, Short & Sweet
Ink – Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery
Cardstock – Whisper White, Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy
Embossing Folder – Square Lattice
Punches – Scallop Edge Border
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Multipurpose Glue, Bigshot

Prior to running the pieces of Whisper White Cardstock through the Bigshot, I randomly inked the Embossing Folder – Square Lattice with So Saffron, Bashful Blue & Certainly Celery Inks & sprayed water over the ink.  When doing this, ensure you have the card facing down onto the embossed side of the folder.  Let dry.

I randomly stamped my images onto the smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Certainly Celery, So Saffron & Bashful Blue Inks.  The sentiment was stamped in Not Quite Navy Ink.

This piece was adhered to the piece of So Saffron Cardstock & then Bashful Blue Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  I punched a scrap piece of Certainly Celery Cardstock with the Scallop Edge Border Punch before adhering to the bottom of the stamped Whisper White Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.

The 2 pieces of embossed Whisper White Cardstock were adhered to the pieces of Not Quite Navy using Multipurpose Glue & then to either side of the Certainly Celery Base Card with Snail Adhesive.

The small stamped images were adhered to the LHS of the card with Multipurpose Glue.

Don’t forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to see what Gwen, Kris, as well as our Weekly Guest Designer who has been very busy & created 2 gorgeous cards.

SC 027/12…

The sketch over at Sunny Challenges & Creations this week brought to us by Kris.  Along with the sketch, we had to use the colours of Black, White plus 1 other colour.  I choose to go with Old Olive.  I wanted to do a colour that you don’t often seen with Black & White, but am still deciding if I like the card yet or not.
Measurements –
Base Card – Old Olive – 11 3/4″ x 4 1/8″ or 30cm x 10.5cm – scored in the middle & folded in half
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 4 5/8″ x 4″ or 11.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 4 1/4″ x 3 7/8″ or 11cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 x 2 – Basic Black – 2 5/8″ x 1 5/8″ or 6.5cm x 4cm
Layer 4 x 2 – Whisper White – 2 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ or 6cm x 3.5cm
Layer 5 – Old Olive – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ or 9cm x 5.5cm
Layer 6 – Basic Black – 3 3/8″ x 2 1/8″ or 8.5cm x 5cm
Layer 7 – Whisper White – 3 1/4″ x 2″ or 8cm x 4.5cm

?

On both pieces of the smaller Whisper White Cardstock, I stamped random images using Old Olive & Basic Black Inks.  Both pieces were then adhered to the matching Basic Black pieces using Snail Adhesive.
I stamped the “F” image & the sentiment onto the larger piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Basic Black Ink.  I then stamped the vine image around the outside of the Whisper White with Old Olive Ink.  This piece was adhered to the piece of Basic Black & then to Old Olive using Snail Adhesive.
I adhered the DSP to the largest piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Snail Adhesive & then to the Base Card – Old Olive.  I adhered the randomly stamped images to the base card as per the sketch.  With the larger piece, I adhered this to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To finish the card & to tie it altogether, I applied 5 Rhinestones into each of the top & bottom corners.
Supplies –
Stamp Set – Pocket Silhouettes, Vintage Vogue
Ink – Basic Black, Old Olive
Cardstock – Old Olive, Basic Black, Whisper White
DSP – Neutrals Designers Series
Accessories – Rhinestones, Snail Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals

SC 015/11…

G’Day Friends,

Another week has gone & that means a NEW challenge.  This week it was set by Gwen, so be sure to pop over to leave some lovely comments for both  Kris & Gwen
As usual, we have 2 parts to the challenge, and this week along with the sketch, we had to use that great Technique – Emboss Resist.  This is such a fun technique that you will love seeing the finished creation once you start.

For my card, I wanted to use the new “IN” Colour – Pool Party, so I went straight for my trusty Colour Coach.

Measurements –
Base Card – Pool Party – 11 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 29.5cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5 cm x 10cm
Layer 2 x 2 – Wild Wasabi – 2 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ or 5.5cm x 6cm
Layer 3 x 2 – Whisper White – 2 1/8″ x 2 3/8″ or 5cm x 5.5cm

For my background on the larger piece of Whisper White, I heat embossed my image onto the Whisper White using Versamark, Not Quiet Navy Inks & Clear Embossing Powder.  Tutorial may be seen in this post

I then Heat Embossed the 2 small pieces of Whisper White using Embossing Powder – White.  Tutorial for Emboss Resist is separate posting & may be found after this posting.

Prior to adhering the Emboss Resist pieces to Wild Wasabi, I randomly stamped the same image over the top using Pool Party Ink.  Because I had used such light colours for my resist, I needed the images stamped  to bring out the colours.  These pieces were then adhered to the Whisper White.

For my greeting, I used my SU Marker – Not Quiet Navy & stamped direct onto a scrap of Whisper White I punched 2 Daffodil Delight pieces of cardstock using my Scallop Oval Punch & adhered these behind the greeting just enough so that I had a little of the scallop showing.  This was adhered to the Base Card with SU Dimensionals.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Pocket Silhouettes, Afterthoughts
Ink – Versamark, Not Quite Navy, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Cardstock – Pool Party, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Punches – Extra Large Oval, Scallop Oval
Accessories – Embossing Powder – White, Embossing Powder – Clear, Embossing Buddy, Heat Tool, SU Sponges, SU Marker – Not Quiet Navy

SC 014/11…

Where does the time go – the weeks just seem to fly by & before we know it – another week, another new challenge.  Yep, Sunny Challenges & Creations has a new sketch, so head on over to check it & the other entries.

This week, the sketch has been set by Kris & of course, the 2nd part of the challenge is to use the colours of – Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise & Daffodil Delight.  I will admit that I had a hard time using Tempting Turquoise, so I played it safe & added just a touch.  I think I may have pulled it off!

Measurements –
Base Card – Whisper White – 5 7/8″ x 8 1/4″ or 15cm x 21cm – scored & folded in half
Layer 1 – Melon Mambo – 5 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ or 14cm x 5.5cm
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 5 3/8″ x 1 3/4″ or 13.5cm x 4.45cm
Layer 3 – Daffodil Delight – 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ or 6.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 4 – Whisper White – 2 3/8″ x 2 3/8″ or 6cm x 6cm

With my Eyelet Border Punch, I punched along one long edge of Melon Mambo & adhered this to the Base Card using Snail Adhesive.  I stamped my sentiment onto the piece of Whisper White using Tempting Turquoise Ink prior to running it through the Bigshot with the Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots.

I adhered to 2 flowers together & punched 2 holes in the middle of the smallest with my Handheld 1/16″ Circle Punch.  I threaded 2 pieces of Taffeta Ribbon threw both holes, adhered across the Embossed Whisper White, tucked ends under, tied a bow on top of the flowers & adhered to the piece of Melon Mambo.

I stamped my images onto the smaller piece of Whisper White using Melon Mambo Ink, run through the Bigshot, again using Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots & adhered to the piece of Daffodil Delight.  This piece was adhered to the Base Card using SU Dimensionals, as I wanted it to stand away from the card a little.

I again adhered 2 different size flowers together & placed a Tempting Turquoise Brad in the middle & placed on the card with a SU Dimensional.

All in all a very simple card, but a clean & simple one (CAS).

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Short & Sweet, Pocket Silhouettes
Ink – Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight
Cardstock – Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Punches – Eyelet Border, 1/16″ Handheld Circle
Ribbon – 1/8″ Taffeta – Daffodil Delight
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Tombow Glue, SU Dimensionals,
Brights Brads – Tempting Turquoise, Flowers

Now, head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & check out what Kris & Gwen have created, go create your entry, come back & link to Mr Linky.  You could be the next Ray of Sunshine.
Until next time, Enjoy!

Challenge 129…

This is the picture for the Challenge at Late Night Stampers.  When I saw this picture it reminded me of the Barrier Reef & the colours of the coral & ocean found along it.  I think it also called for a CAS Card – Clean & Simple.  I have tried to capture what I first saw in the photo, but am not too sure if I succeeded.  Let me know your thoughts…..

Base Card – Whisper White – 4 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ or 15cm x 10.5cm
Layer 1 – Marina Mist – 5″ x 3 1/4″ or 13cm x 8.5vm
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 4 7/8″ x 3 1/8″ or 12.5cm x 8cm

For one of the images, I inked it using my SU MarkersPear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight & Tangerine Tango.  I stamped directly onto Whisper White Cardstock.  The remainder of the images, I used Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight & Pear Pizzazz Inks.  I stamped direct onto Whisper White.  The sentiment was inked in Marina Mist Ink & again, direct onto Whisper White.

Once all stamping was completed, I ran it through the Bigshot using my Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder & adhered to the Marina Mist Cardstock.  This was then adhered to the Base Card – Whisper White.

I don’t think it could get any easier.  Sometimes, I find if I keep to my favourite – CAS – then I am a lot happier than using a lot of supplies on one card.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Pocket Silhouettes
Ink – Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight
Cardstock – Whisper White, Marina Mist
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Bigshot, SU Markers

Until next time, Enjoy!
