Shopping Rebel | Polkadoodles Crafts | Digi Choosday

G’Day Crafty Friends,

It’s Digi Choosday time!

Today I’m sharing a simple & easy card featuring the ever so cute shopping Rebel Girl Digi Stamp.

Shopping Rebel is all set for summer, dressed in her hot pink dress, carrying her lime bag & sporting her oh so vibrant orange hair.  Don’t you think she looks like she is having such a fabulous day out & about doing a little retail therapy!

To compliment the image, I teamed it up with the  Rebel Pretty Printable Paper Patterns – Bundle 1, which coordinates perfectly with the bright, fun summer colours.  The  sentiment is from the Rebel Messages with Attitude set.  I love these sentiments as they add the perfect finishing touch with a little sass!

To complete the card, I added some soft ink blending to the background, coloured the image with Copics prior to fussy cutting it and incorporating a little scoring for extra detail and dimension.  Sometimes these simple techniques really let the adorable image and colourful papers shine.

G’Day Crafty Friends,

Once again it’s time for Digi Choosday over on the Polkadoodles blog.  Be sure to check it out to see all the lovely inspiration.

Today I’m sharing a sweet birthday card featuring Lily Ladybug Collecting Flowers Digi Stamp.  She’s been coloured the image with Copics, using soft, cheerful colours to bring the little scene to life.

To complement the image, I added some coordinating pattern paper from the Lily Bug Ladybug Paper 2 and finished the background with a little light ink blending for a soft feel.  The combination of the florals and gentle background details makes this such a fun and happy birthday card design.

I love how cute and whimsical Lilly Ladybug looks surrounded by her flowers, and the layer of pattern paper add just the right amount of texture and colour.

Digi Choosday | Polkadoodles Crafts | Bright Father’s Day Card

G’Day Crafty Friends,

It’s Digi Choosday time!

Today I’m sharing a bright and happy Father’s Day card featuring a fun digital image, cheerful pattern paper & copic colouring with a little ink blending too.

For this card, I started by printing my digital image onto Express-It Cardstock and colouring everything with Copics.  I kept the colours fresh and vibrant to create a playful Father’s Day design.

One of my favourite parts of this project was blending the background with ink.  I used soft copic blending techniques to create the grassy ground and drew birds in the sky with a Fine Black Liner.  The gentle transitions between colours help the scene feel light, sunny and full of happiness.

To add extra interest & to tone it down a little, I randomly chopped the paper into 4 pieces – you know me – prior to adhering it onto a layered of White Cardstock.  When chopping your paper, if it has a pattern, don’t forget to keep it in order when cutting.  The pattern of the paper and the bright colours gives the card a fun and energetic feel while still keeping the design balanced.

I finished the card with a sentiment digi that ties the whole project together perfectly.  A bold sentiment always adds the perfect finishing touch to a handmade card!

Polkadoodles Crafts | Digi Choosday | Pretty in Pink

G’Day Crafty Friends,

Once again, it’s time for Digi Choosday!  Be sure to click on the link to see what everyone has created.  This is gonna be a fun one!

There’s something so elegant about stepping away from traditional square cards and creating a design with softer, more delicate lines. For this birthday card, I chose an oval-shaped design to give it a unique and feminine feel, perfect for celebrating a special occasion.

The base of the card was created using nesting oval dies, then layered with a gorgeous pink striped patterned paper for a sweet and timeless look. The soft stripes add just the right amount of detail without overpowering the design, making the perfect backdrop for the image.

I coloured the image with Copic markers, blending warm pinks and soft florals to coordinate with the lovely soft pink paper.  Copics always bring images to life with their smooth shading and vibrant colour combinations and they worked perfectly for this soft, romantic palette.  I will say that I am a little out of practice with colouring, but “practice, practice, practice makes perfect!”

A few sparkling embellishments and a sentiment finished the card beautifully, making it suitable not only for birthdays but for many special occasions as well.  I love how the oval shape gives the project such an elegant look while still feeling playful and pretty.

Polkadoodles Crafts Challenge | Father’s Day

G’Day Crafty Friends,

This week’s challenge is all about Dad where we’re celebrating Father’s Day!

Digi Choosday runs each Tuesday over on the Digichooseday Blog, so there’s always something new to spark your creativity.  I’d absolutely love for you to join in.

Even though we don’t have Father’s Day until September in Oz, in other parts of the world Father’s Day is drawing close.  To me, this little gnome jumped out to me for Father’s Day!  Don’t you just love the hat?  What about that long lovely beard!

In saying that, the digi image could be used for all occasions & all year around.  I’ve skipped a sentiment of the card front as I wanted the image to be the “star”!

The papers are from the Gnome Men Dad/Father Digi Papers.  I’ve printed 2 of the pieces prior to chopping them down to size & layering each onto a piece of Blue Cardstock.

The Dad Father Celebration Party Gnome for Men digi has been printed onto Express-It Cardstock prior to being coloured with Copics.

I fussy cut a couple of stars from the same digi papers to create my own embellishment.  The beer mugs at the bottom of his feet have been printed once again, coloured with Copics prior to being fussy cut & arranged & adhered to the card front.

I was going to colour the image with earthy colours but I wanted it to bright & happy.  The colours were taken from the colours in the papers I’ve used.  Don’t forget to use your pattern papers to help you with your card making & selecting colours.

Easy card, easy layout!  Cards for the male don’t have to be fussy!
