My card today has been created for a swap that I was asked to join last month at Soul Scrappers. I’ve been a member of this group for a few years now & are a lovely bunch of ladies. Great place to see so many wonderful photos, ideas, challenges & scrapbook pages.
I don’t really have any “Valentine” stamps, so I sort of used a couple of stamps from different sets to achieve my look. I did know that I wanted to keep it very simple without going over the top. I certainly hope the ladies liked it.
Be sure to check back in a couple of days, as I will be posting the swaps I received.

What a great challenge Kris has given us over at Sunny Challenges & Creations. “Triple Layer Card“. I have never made one of these previously & of course, me being me, decided that I would not do your typical Triple Layer as I sort of off-centred it a little, including having my layers a little smaller too.
Measurements – Base Card – Pool Party – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm Layer 1 – Crumb Cake – 4″ x 5 3/4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm Layer 2 – Whisper White – 3 7/8″ x 5 5/8″ or 14cm x 9.5cm Layer 3 – Crumb Cake – 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ or 11.5cm x 8.5cm Layer 4 – Whisper White – 3 1/8 x 4 3/8 or 11cm x 8cm Layer 5 – Crumb Cake – 3 1/4″ x 2 1/4″ or 8.5cm x 6cm Layer 6 – Whisper White – 3 1/8″ x 2 1/8″ or 8cm x 5.5cm
Supplies – Ink Set – Rue Des Fleur, Established Elegance, En Francais Ink – Crumb Cake, Pool Party Cardstock – Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Pool Party Ribbon – 1/2″ Seam Binding – Pool Party Accessories – Snail Adhesive
I run a small piece of Snail Adhesive on the backs of the small pieces of Whisper White Cardstock – this Snail should be so that it is temporary. I placed the pieces on top of each other so that you think you are actually going to stamp one piece of Cardstock. I inked my Background Stamp with Crumb Cake, stamped off once & then stamped over all 3 pieces of Whisper White. I decided what I wanted for my main image & stamped it in Pool Party – Umbrella. The remainder of the images were randomly stamped over the pieces of Cardstock in Pool Party & Crumb Cake Inks.
Once my images had been stamped, my cards were carefully separated & the Crumb Cake Matts were adhered to the corresponding Whisper White pieces. As I didn’t want anything else on the card, I adhered all 3 pieces into place, ensuring that the stamped images matched prior to adhering.
To finish my card, I tied a small bow with Seam Binding & attached to the card.
We hope you will find the time to play along with us this week, as it is a great challenge & the perfect time to create one of these great cards. Believe me, once you do one, you will be hooked.

This is one of our cards we will be creating this Sunday at the Caloundra Commity Centre.
I must admit this is way out of my comfort zone, including the colours, which I think I have broken all the rules in the book, but am happy with the final outcome.

??????????Our card last Friday at Crafty Creations was to do the Technique – Basic Masking. I choice to go with Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery & Pink Pirouette– not colours I would normally put together, but I am really loving the final result. Mind you, when I started the card, I had no idea where I was going, only knowing that I wanted to use the stamps I had sitting on my desk.
????
Inside Card….
I am also finding myself going back to the softer colours which I think are sadly being neglected – by me anyhow! ? Measurements – Base Card – Chocolate Chip – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm Layer 1 – Certainly Celery – 5 3/8″ x 3 5/8″ or 14cm x 9.5cm Layer 2 – DSP – 5 1/8″ x 3 3/8″ or 13cm x 8.5cm Layer 3 – Pink Pirouette – 3″ x 2″ or 8cm x 5cm Layer 4 – Certainly Celery – 3″ x 2 3/8″ or 7.5cm x 6cm Layer 5 – Whisper White – 2 7/8″ x 2 1/4″ or 7cm x 5.5cm
I adhered a piece of Ribbon across the middle of the DSP, tucked ends under, adhered to the piece of Certainly Celery & finally to the Base Card – Chocolate Chip, all with Snail Adhesive.
The piece of Pink Pirouette Cardstock was torn along the bottom, sponged across the tear & around the edges & adheredd over the top of the Ribbon using Snail Adhesive.
I stamped my flower image onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped again onto a scrap piece of paper, cut it out & used this one piece for my Mask. While the stamp was inked in Pink Pirouette, I again stamped onto a scrap piece of Glossy Cardstock, cut out & set aside. This was by accident as I didn’t realise it was glossy until I was cutting it out, but decided to leave it the way it was.
I stamped the leaf images around the flower & created 2 Masks for the leaves.
After applying Dotto to the back of my Masks, I adhered them over the matching images prior to inking my background stamp in Chocolate Chip, stamping off twice & then stamping onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock & over the masked images.
This piece was adhered to the piece of Certainly Celery & finally to the Base Card. I adhered the Glossy image to the top of the stamped image with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some Dazzling Diamonds to the middle with my 2-Way Glue Pen & popped a Rhinestone in the middle.
I tied a bow with the Ribbon & adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. The sentiment was stamped onto the bottom of the piece of Pink Pirouette in Chocolate Chip Ink.
The card I am showing you today is one of the ones from our Technique Class last Sunday – Stained Glass – Embossed.
It is a very basic layout AND a very easy card to create. In saying that, it did take me about 8 days to come up with it – don’t you just hate that! I think I was too busy concentrating on the layout instead of the technique. So when I looked at the whole project from another angle, I shocked myself at how easy it eventually was & how very pretty & soft it turned out!
Measurements – Base Card – Rose Red – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21.5cm x 15cm Layer 1 – Whisper White – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10.5cm Layer 2 – Rose Red – 3″ x 4 1/4″ or 8cm x 11cm Layer 3 – Whisper White – 2 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 7.5cm x 10cm Layer 4 – Vellum – 2 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 7.5cm x 10cm
Supplies – Stamp Set – Elements of Style, En Francais Ink – Versamark, Pretty in Pink Cardstock – Whisper White, Vellum, Rose Red Ribbon – 5/8″ Organza – Whisper White Accessories – SU! Sponge Daubers, SU! Pastels, Mini Glue Dots, SU! Markers – Old Olive & Pink Pirouette, Snail Adhesive, Embossing Powder – White, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy
The new weekly challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations starts today. It is an easy one this week, although it did set my mind racing as there are sooooooooo many ways you could create your project by creating a Window in your card! Yep, Kris has set us a challenge by making a “window in our card“.
I will admit, I based my card around 2 pieces of paper – one being the DSP & the other Soft Suede Cardstock. I found these 2 pieces already adhered together in with the DSP pack. Obviously, I had used the remainder of the strip for something else & the piece left was just perfect for a card folded on it’s side. The piece of Soft Suede Cardstock had even been punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch, so that was an added bonus as far as I was concerned.
I even used a piece of Textured Cardstock for my Base Card which I found in my Textured Drawer of cardstock. I thought it would take away the blank look of the front of the card while at the same time, giving it a suttle soft feel to the card…….. I wanted the window to be my focus.
Then in the middle of creating my card, the “light bulb” went off & I created the window around a tiny stamp, but all will be revealed as we get further down…….. curious now!!!!!!!!!!!!
Supplies – Stamp Set – Elementary Elegance, Elements of Style, Sincere Salutations, En Francais Ink – Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette Cardstock – Pink Pirouette Textured, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede DSP – Beau Chateau Punches – Scallop Edge Border, 1 3/4″ Circle, 2 3/8 Scallop Circle Ribbon – 1/2 Seam Binding – Very Vanilla Accessories – Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Dotto, Pearls, Snail Adhesive
Measurements – Base Card – Pink Pirouette Textured Cardstock – 12″ x 4 1/8″ or 30cm x 10.5cm – Scored in the middle longways & folded in half Layer 1 – DSP – 1″ x 4 1/8″ or 2.5cm x 10.5cm Layer 2 – Soft Suede – 1″ x 4 1/8″ or 1.5cm
Once the card had been scored & folded in half, I cut about 1 1/4″ of Cardstock from the front right hand side of the card – the top layer ONLY!!!!!!
Prior to adding my bits down the Right Hand Side of my card, I punched a circle from the front top layer of my card using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. I adhered the piece of DSP & Soft Suede Cardstock down the RHS with Snail Adhesive. I allowed about 1/8″ from the edge of the card showing on the RHS.
My little WOW factor with the little stamped bird inside the card
I punched a circle out of the DSP using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch, positioned the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch over the top, ensuring that the DSP was even on all side prior to punching. Don’t you just love how all SU! punches gel together?????? You should have a scalloped circle ready to be placed over the the window in your card.
?I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock for the inside of my card – 4″ x 5 5/8″ & adhered with Snail Adhesive. A circle was punched from a scrap piece of paper with my 1 3/4″ Circle Punch & placed over the top of the inside layer ensuring that the whole of the Very Vanilla was covered with the scrap paper. I placed a temporary adhesive to the back of the paper with Dotto so that the paper wouldn’t move around when I stamped.
I inked my script image with Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped over the paper & onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock. The excess ink went straight onto the scrap paper. When I removed the scrap paper, I had a round circle of script on the Very Vanilla Cardstock inside. This script image appeared through the window when the card was closed.
TIP – To remove any little bits of Dotto on your card, rub gently with Adhesive Remover ??
See the little wings behind the big bird…..
I adhered my scalloped DSP circle over the top of the window with Tombow, stamped my bird image onto a scrap of Very Vanilla using Soft Suede Ink, cut out & WHAM– the “light bulb” switched on!!!!!! I adhered the cut out bird to the top of the DSP scallop circle by his little wing tip with Tombow. The bird was covering the little bird on the inside & cannot be seen until you open the card….. ??As the card was still missing something I tied a knot with Very VanillaSeam Binding & adhered to the DSP with a Mini Glue Dot.
I decided to stop there, but after putting all my “stuff” away, I eyed my Pearls & thought “why not” – so on with the Pearls down the Scallop Edge Border & of course, 1 for his little eye.
I grabbed a greeting & stamped direct onto the Textured Cardstock with Soft Suede. It just seemed to balance the card a bit better.
We would love for you to join us as this week, we have decided if we reach 10 entries there will be TWO (2) Ray of Sunshines announced the following Satrday.
