SC 043/12…

This week sees our challenge set by Gwen.  At first it was just going to be the sketch as well as the stamp set “Ocean Commotion“, but with the new Stampin’ Up! Catalogue in the States & Canada just been released & our new catalogue coming up in a couple of months, we made a few changes, so we sure hope you will join us.

So you can look at it 3 ways –
Dig out that old set & ink it up one last time
Use a set that hasn’t seen ink for some time
Ink up the new set that you have just received in the post

I wasn’t really fussed on my card to begin with, but it is slowly growing on me.  I have used the colours that reflect the reef here in Queensland & colours I remember seeing when I have gone scuba diving.

Inside Card…

I stamped the seaweed image onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Bashful Blue & Not Quite Navy Inks.  I stamped off once when using Not quite Navy prior to stamping onto the Whisper White, as I didn’t want it to be vibrant but a softer colour as it is down deep in the ocean.  I repeated the samped procedure for all 3 smaller pieces of Whisper White Cardstock.
I then sponged over all pieces of the stamped Cardstock with 2 Sponge Daubers, one for Bashful Blue & the other for Garden Green.  Prior to sponging with the Daubers, I daubed once onto a scrap piece of paper to make it appear more softer on the Whisper White

?
You can just see the Shimmer & the soft sponging….

The stamped piece of Whisper White Cardstock was adhered to the bottom half of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.  I punched a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock with the Scallop Edge Border Punch & cut it back to about 1/4″ in width, sponged it with a Sponge Dauber & Garden Green Ink before adhering it across the join of the 2 colours.

Prior to adhering the smaller pieces together & to the card, I grabbed some Shimmer Paint mixed in a small spray bottle & lightly sprayed the pieces as well as the Base Card, including the top half of Pumpkin Pie.  This gives the whole card a very shinny effect as if you are under the ocean.  I adhered the smaller stamped Whisper White Cardstock to the Garden Green pieces with Snail Adhesive & then to the Base Card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the Seahorse 3 times onto scrap Whisper White Cardstock with Pumpkin Pie Ink & cut all 3 out.  Don’t ask me why I picked the worse image to cut, but cut I did!!!!!  I won’t say how many times I cut his tail off.  These pieces were adhered to the centre of each Whisper White pieces again using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Why not head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Gwen, Kris & our Weekly Guest Designers have created.
We would love for you to join us!

Caloundra Community Centre…

Our card today has been around for quiet sometime, but I think they always make for a lovely card with just that different look. It  gives a whole new outlook on cards!  Doesn’t matter how much you put on them or how little is on them, once that crimping kicks it – WOW!!!!
This stamp set is one of my favourites, although I must admit I don’t use it nearly as much as I should.  The ladies wanted a little bit of an ocean feel this week & thought I would incorporate a card that can suit anyone & any occasion.  “Ocean Commotion”  does just that!
Full instructions may be found in this post.  I have just changed all my colours & stamps.
After stamping my coral in Basful Blue & Marina Mist Inks, I sponged all over the card using SU Sponge & Bashful Blue Ink.  I wanted it to be a little soft with just the tinge of sponging, so I didn’t go too heavy on the sponging.  I repeated the same for the top half of the envelope.  The bottom half was then put through the crimper.
I stamped my fish & seahorse onto a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock with So Saffron Ink,cut around the images & adhered to the bottom of the envelope using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a piece of Ribbon around the top half of the envelope & tied a knot.

For the inside, I stamped the coral onto Whisper White Cardstock using Bashful Blue & So Saffron Inks.  This was adhered to a piece of So Saffron.
For my bubbles, I poured random size drops of Crystal Effects onto a small piece of Window Sheet, mixed in Marina Mist & Bashful Blue Re-Inkers randomly to the drops & allowed to dry.  A couple I applied no colour.  I applied these to the card using Tweezers & adhered with Crystal Effects.  I also applied a couple to the eyes of both fish & one to the seahorse.

Cardstock – Whisper White, So Saffron, Window Sheet

Until next time Enjoy!

CCMC 162…

The jury is still out on this card, but thought I would use a stamp set which hasn’t been out of its box for some time, & give it a little bit of ink.
I’ve taken the sketch from Create with Connie & Mary which looked a great easy sketch until I blocked myself into a corner & out come the colour-coach.  I then re-did a couple of colours as I wasn’t too happy with the original take on it.  This is the first time I have done a sketch from here, but they are always have great sketches.
Base Card – Not Quite Navy – 5 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ or 15cm x 10.5cm – ie once it has been scored in half
Layer 1 – Crumb Cake – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – DSP – 4″ x 1″ or 10cm x 2.5cm
Layer 3 – Ribbon
Layer 4 – Not Quite Navy – Large Circle
Layer 5 – Very Vanilla – Smaller Circle
I coloured my ribbon with Crumb Cake Re-Inker & set aside to dry.

Inside Card…

?

Using Crumb Cake Ink I stamped my image randomly onto the Crumb Cake Cardstock, adhered the DSP to the top of the Crumb Cake.  I wanted to make it look like bubbles coming up from the bottom of the ocean.  I made a mask of the Seahorse from scrap paper & cut it out.  I stamped the seahorse image onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Garden Green Ink, I attached the mask over the top of the seahorse, using another image & Garden Green Ink, I stamped off twice before stamping over the mask.  I repeated again.  I then inked my image again using Not Quite Navy Ink & stamped over the top twice.
I cut my 2 circles using the Circles Die, adhered the Very Vanilla circle to the Not Quiet Navy Circle & then to the Cumb Cake Piece.  I then ran the ribbon across the middle where the 2 pieces met & tied a bow off-centre.  Using SU Dimensionals, I adhered the whole piece to the Base Card.

With Envelope…

?

I stamped 3 shell images onto Very Vanilla Cardstock using Baja Breeze & cut them out.  These were applied to the card as per the sketch with the back one being adhered direct to the card while the front 2 were adhered using SU Dimensionals – gotta love these SU Dimensionals.
I repeated my masking for the inside of my card, adhered the Very Vanilla straight to the base card.  The masking was again repeated for my envelope.
