SC 078/13…

Our challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations has been set by Gwen.  She has been very kind to us this week as there is no sketch, but we are requested to create a Card, 3-D Project or even a Scrapbook Page with a “Sympathy Theme“.

I actually completed my card for a couple of challenges ago, but when I went to post it, realised that I had the wrong challenge.  I have since used the card, so it is no longer in my possession.

I love the little rose which is in Stamp Set “Papaya Collage“.  It seems to suit any occasion & I have used it a lot of late.  In fact this is one of the cards we created in our Stamping Classes this month.

I love the clean simple look of the card.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you & your families a very happy & safe Easter.

Our challenge this week at Sunny Challenges & Creations has been given to us by Kris.  She has set us a sketch as well as getting us to use our Background Stamps or use Stamps to create a Background.  It is the perfect timing to grab those background stamps gathering dust in the corne

r & to ink them up to create your project.  We do hope you will play along with us this week.

I, for one, had a bit of a hard time creating my card for this challenge.  I don’t know why, maybe it was because I was reading too much into it as I just couldn’t get my head around it.  I am sort of happy with the final result, as it has turned out very soft & pretty.  Perfect for a special person.  Again, I left a greeting/sentiment off the front, but there is nothing stopping you adding one.

Inside Card…

What a great challenge we have over at Sunny Challenges & Creations for you this fortnight.  Once again Gwen has been very easy on us whereby she has given us no sketch, but that we are to create a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item with the theme of “Get Well“.

This is the type of card that we usually leave to the last moment to create, but one that we should all probably have in our box of goodies for that special person who may not be feeling on top of the world & knowing that you were thinking of them can pick them up no end.

After creating 2 cards, yep you read right – TWO – I went to post the challenge, only to discover that I had the wrong sentiment, so back to the drawing board for me.  I then completely went in another direction & created one for the male, which we don’t see too often, but can be a difficult one to create.

Would you believe I don’t own a “Get Well” stamp.  I just about pulled my shelves apart looking for one.  There is nothing worse than looking for something you think you have.  Anyhow, not to be outbeaten, I then grabbed a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, typed the sentiment in Early Expresso Ink & printed out.  So now you know what will be in my next order along with any other sentiment that I think I may need in the future…….

In fact, my card all started from a small piece of Always Artichoke Cardstock & went from there.  For the layout, I took the layout from Mary-Jo’s current challenge.

I’ve just rememered that it fits my online group’s challenge over at Latenight Stampers as well.  How good is that? Not starting out with much at all & I’ve completed 3 challenges with the same card…..

We would love for you to play along with our challenge this week.  To get you started, why not pop on over to Sunny Challenges & Creations, see what Gwen, Kris & our Guest Designers have created.  Create your card, etc, post to an online group or forum, then link back to Mr Linky.

Remember if we have over 10 entries, then we can give out 2 Ray of Sunshines…….

Thank you to the number of entries we had in our last challenge.  I know we were all excited to see them.  I was astounded by the final number.  Thank you so much for your support.  Maybe the extra week has a big impact as to the entries, so we hope you are enjoying the extra time for creating.

Have you been enjoying your free stamp sets from this year’s Sale-a-Bration that Stampin’ Up! have going on at present?  Well, the challenge this fortnight over at Sunny Challenges & Creations is to use any products from SAB.  We also have a great little sketch for you to use too.  Can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

I have finally managed to use “Summer Starfruit In Colour“.  I will admit I am not a bg fan of this colour but I really like it with the Sycamore Street DSP from the SAB Catalogue.  It also goes really well with Rich Razzleberry & that being one of my favourite colours I can see myself using more of Summer Starfruit.

The wide selection of Sale-a-Bration products this year is fantastic.  I hope you are enjoying them as much as the rest of us.

Over the past couple of weeks, I seem to have lost (misplaced) my favourite scissors that I use to cut out with.  I do have another pair, exactly the same but for some reason I cannot get used to them, which means I am not entirely happy with my cutting.  I will have to search my office again & again until I find them as they were my very first pair of dedicated craft scissors.

Inside Card…

Yes, Sunny Challenges is back & ready for another year.  We hope you will be able to join in & play along.  This year, we are trialling the challenges as fortnightly instead of the weekly.  We would love to hear what you think of the idea.

Our first challenge has been brought to us by Kris, who has been very easy on us as there is no sketch, products, etc to use.  Let your mind go wild, as it is a blank canvas.  All we have to do is create a card, 3-D project, scrapbook page, etc as long as it is celebrating “Birthdays“…..

Close Up…

I decided to use a stamp set that had been on my Wish List since I first saw it in the catalogue & was a “must have”.  As usual other “stuff” got in the way.  Anyhow, I’ve had this set for sometime, but this is the first time it has seen ink…..

I am hoping that this year I will be able to enter a few more challenges, so with that in mind, I’ve also created this card for the challenge over at Clean & Simple

It was my turn to set the challenge this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations.  This is a very easy sketch as well as the 2nd part of the challenge being non-traditional christmas.  Now this can mean non-traditional colours, stamps or both.  It is entirely up to you……  We hope you will have heaps of fun with this challenge, better still join us this week.

Measurements –
Base Card – Basic Gray – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15xm
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 3 3/4 x 3 7/8″ or 9.5cm x 9.7cm
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 3 3/4″ x 2″ or 9.5cm x 5cm
Layer 3 – Pretty in Pink – 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ or 11.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 4 – Whisper White – 2 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ or 11cm x 6cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Lovely as a Tree
Ink – Basic Gray, Versamark
Cardstock – Basic Gray, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
Embossing Folders – Perfect Polka Dots, Stripes
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Tombow Multi-Purpose Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Big Shot, Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder

I run the larger piece of Whisper White Cardstock through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder & the smaller piece of Whisper White using the Stripes Embossing Folder.  Both pieces were adhered to the Base Card – Basic Gray with Tombow Multi-Purpose Glue.

I stamped the long piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Versamark & then Basic Gray, before embossing with Clear Embossing Powder.  The embossed piece was adhered to the piece of Pretty in Pink with Snail Adhesive.

Thinking I didn’t have a “Merry Christmas” Stamp, I printed the greeting onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, punched with the Word Label Punch & adhered to the bottom part of the embossed piece prior to adhering to the Base Card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

SC 069/12…

Gwen has set us a great challenge this week over at Sunny Challenges & CreationsSketch Only!  As I am a little low on Christmas Cards, I thought this would be the perfect challenge to create yet another.  I have most of mine written out & ready to go, but there is always that last 1 or 2 that you need….  I also decided to create it using my favourite Christmas Colours this year.  I am a bit of a non-traditionalist when it comes to Christmas Colours.

Measurements –
Base Card – Pink Pirouette – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 3 7/8″ x 5 5/8″ or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Rich Razzleberry –  3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ or 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Layer 3 x  3 – Silver Glitter Paper – 4 1/8″ x 7/8″
Layer 4 – Pink Pirouette – 3 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ or 9cm x 5.5cm
Layer 5 – Silver Glitter Paper – 3 1/4″ x 2″ or 8cm x 4.5cm

Supplies –

Stamp Set – Ornament Keepsakes
Ink – Rich Razzleberry
Cardstock – Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Framelits – Holiday Ornaments
Punches – Corner Rounder
Accessories – Snail Ashesive, SU! Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Rhinestones
Non-SU – Silver Cord

My card was basically created from 3 pieces of Silver Glitter Paper that I found – all perfectly cut to size.  I trimmed the corners of each end, adhered all 3 pieces to the piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock with Snail Adhesive prior to running through the Big Shot using Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I do not know what I will ever do if Stampin’ Up! ever decided to retire this folder as it is my favourite & use it on most of my projects!

This piece was then adhered to the piece of Whisper White Cardstock & then finally to the Base Card – Pink Pirouette with Snail Adhesive.

I stamped the image onto a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock in Rich Razzleberry Ink, ran it through the Big Shot with the matching Framelit Die.  Prior to adhering it to the small piece of Sliver Glitter Paper, I adhered a small piece of Silver Cord to the top so that it looked a little like it was going to hang.  I then applied Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the cut out ornament & added small pieces of Sticky Strip to the tops of the Dimensionals.  I’ve found when using the Glitter Paper, the Sticky Strip adheres a little better to the top of the Paper.

The whole piece was then adhered to the small piece of Pink Pirouette Cardstock with Snail Adhesive prior to adhering to the card.  Again I placed SU! Dimensionals to the back, added small pieces of Sticky Strip priro to adhering to the top of the Glitter Paper.

To finish the card off, I placed a Rhinestone to the centre of the ornament & 3 along the bottom right hand corner.

We hope you will have time to join us this week for our challenge.  We all love comments on our blog & as we love leaving comments, this would be perfect to play along.  Why not head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations to check out what Kris, Gwen, Vicki & Carole have created.  Create your card, link to an on-line forum, group or your blog & then link with Mr Linky.

SC 068/12…

It was my turn to set the challenge over at Sunny challenge & Creations.  This week we had to use something from the new Holiday Catalogue plus use the sketch provided.  Now the product could be in the way of Glitter Paper, Embossing Folder, Tulle, DSP, etc.  There are so many wonderful new products that this should be an easy challenge for everyone.

My card didn’t turn out exactly how I had it pictured, as I sort of forget to do a couple of things while creating it.  Fingers crossed, I get time to do another during the week.

Measurements –
Base Card – Primrose Petals – 8 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 – Very Vanilla – 5 5/8″ x 4″ or 14cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Early Expresso – 5 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ or 13.5cm x 9 cm
Layer 3 – Champagne Glitter Paper – 3 3/4″ x 3/4″ or 9.5cm x 1.5cm
Layer 4 – Very Vanilla – 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ or 9.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 5 – Primrose Petals – 3 3/4″ x 1/2″ or 9.5cm x 1cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Ornament Keepsakes
Ink – Primerose Petals
Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Early Expresso, Primrose Petals, Glitter Paper
DSP – Candlelight Christmas Speciality
Punches – Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border, Boho Blossoms
Embossing Folders – Perfect Polka Dots
Dies – Holiday Ornaments
Ribbon – 3/8″ Stitched Satin – Primrose Petals
Accessories – Sticky Strip, SU! Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Pearls, Mini Glue Dots

I run the piece of Early Expresso through the Big Shot using Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots, prior to adhering to the piece of Very Vanilla with Snail Adhesive, adhered a piece of Ribbon across it & then finally to the Base Card – Primrose Petals.

I cut the middle from the smaller piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock by running it through the Big Shot  using one of the Dies from the Holiday Ornaments.  The piece of Champagne Glitter Paper was attached to the left hand side of the piece with Sticky Strip, the piece of Primrose Rose Cardstock punched using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch & adhered to the right side of the piece with Snail Adhesive.

I stamped the matching ornament image onto a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock measuring a little smaller than the top piece – 3 5/8″ x 2 3/8“.  I then placed SU! Dimensionals to the wrong side of the die cut Very Vanilla Cardstock, ensuring they were around the outer & inner edges, but not that they could be seen.  I then adhered this piece to the stamped image, ensuring the images were correctly aligned prior to permanently adhering.

I created a Rosette by cutting a 12″ x 1/2″ piece of DSP & scoring every 1/4″ with the Simply Scoring Tool.  I folded this concentina fold, glued together with Hot Heat Gun & adhered to the middle of the stamped image, again, ensuring that the Rosette was placed in the middle.  I punched a small flower from the Glitter Paper with the BoHo Blossoms Punch, adhered to the top of the Rossette & added a Pearl to the middle of the flower.

To finish the card, I tied a small bow & adhered to the top of the Ornament with a Mini Glue Dot.

We hope you will join us this week.

Until next time, Happy Stampin!

Our challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations has been given to us by Gwen.  Along with the sketch, we had to use the colour of Perfect Plum.  I must admit I haven’t used this colour for quiet some time, but alway love the end result when I do.

Measurements –
Base Card – Perfect Plum – 8 1/4 x 4 1/8″ or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 5 3/4″ x 3 7/8″ or 14cm x 9.5cm
Layer 1 – Pink Pirouette – 3 1/4″ x 2″ or 8.5cm x 5cm
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 3 1/8″ x 1 7/8″ or 8cm x 4.5cm
Layer 3 – Rose Red – 3″ x 1 7/8″ or 7.5cm x 5cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Artistic Etchings, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Ink – Rose Red, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette
Cardstock – Perfect Plum, Rose Red, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Accessories – Big Shot, Scallop Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Tombow Multipurpose Glue, Snail Adhesive

I run my large piece of Whisper White Cardstock through the Big Shot using Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I adhered this to the Base Card – Perfect Plum with Snail Adhesive.

I inked my image in Pink Pirouette Ink, stamped off once & then onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I repeated this twice before stamping my main image over the top with Perfect Plum Ink.  This piece was adhered to a piece of Pink Pirouette prior to adhering to the Base Card with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

The middle section was stamped onto Whisper White Cardstock with Pink Pirouette Ink.  I stamped off once prior to stamping one image, while the other was direct to paper.  I then inked the crown with Perfect Plum, stamped direct to paper while the 3rd image I used Rose Red.  This piece was adhered to a layer of Rose Red Cardstock & finally to the Base Card.  Part of the section was adhered  with Snail Adhesive while the other part was adhered with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting was stamped twice onto a scap of Whisper White Cardstock, once in Perfect Plum Ink, punched out with the Scallop Circle Punch & the 2nd image in Rose Red & the middle punched with the 1″ Circle Punch.  The Rose Red image was then adhered to the middle of the Perfect Plum image with a Stampin’ Dimensional prior to adhering to the card.  Again, I used Snail Adhesive for the top part, while the bottom part is supported by a Stampin’ Dimensional.

We would love for you to join us this week in our challenge.  So hop on over to check what the other girls have created & then link your creation back using Mr Linky.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Can you believe t?  We actually had rain last night & boy it cool this morning, but hey who cares – Rain, we have Rain!!!!!!  A great day for stampin & catching up on all those little projects that we tend to lend for “Ron” – later on!  Rain!!!!  did, I mention we have Rain!!!!!!!!!

Our challenge this week over at Sunny Challenges & Creations is to create a “Sympathy” card along with the great sketch layout!  This is a type of card that we don’t like creating, but is always good to have in your stash.

Measurements –
Base Card – Bashful Blue – 8 1/4″ x 4 1/8″ or 21cm x 15cm
Layer 1 – Whisper White – 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ or 9.5cm x 6.5cm
Layer 3 – Whisper White – 3 1/2″ x 3 3/4: or 9cm x 9.5cm

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Just Believe, Petite Pairs
Ink – Nil
Cardstock – Whisper White, Bashful Blue
Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots
Punches – Scallop Trim Border, Oval
Embosslits – Beautiful Wings
Ribbon – 5/8″ Organza – Whisper White
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Pearls, Stampin’ Up! Markers – Rose Red & Wild Wasabi, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Bone Folder, Big Shot

I wanted to use a colour I haven’t touched in a lot time, so it was basically a toss up between the new “In Colours” or Bashful Blue, which won in the end.

I inked my main image with Stampin’ Markers of Wild Wasabi & Rose Red & stamped directly onto the larger piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I did this twice, with the 2nd time stamping a little lower onto the Cardstock, the second time around.

Inside….

The smaller piece of Whisper White was run through the Big Shot with the Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots, punched along one of the edges with the Oval Punch & adhered to the bottom of the larger piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Snail Adhesive.
I adhered a piece of Ribbon towards the bottom of the embossed piece.  The whole piece was then adhered to theBase Card – Bashful Blue – with Snail Adhesive.  I stamped my sentiment with Rose Red & Wild Wasabi Markers, punched out the Oval Punch & adhered to the top of the Ribbon.  I tied a small bow & adhered to the bottom part of the punched oval with a Mini Glue Dot.

A scap piece of Whisper White Cardstock was run through the Big Shot with the Beautufil Wings Embosslits Folder, wings curled a little with my Bone Folder & attached ramdomly to the card with Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

To finish the card, I applied small Pearls to the flowers & also to the centre of the butterflies.

All in all a very simple & easy card, but one I am happy with.

Don’t forget to pop on over to Sunny Challenges & Creationsto check out what Gwen, Kris & our Weekly Guest Designer Alison have created.  We would love for you to join us this week.

“Who Me………….”

In finishing, I thought I would share with you my little helper this past week.  I’ve had a big year with weddings & receptions, so all the help is very much appreciated, no matter what form it may be.  She usually gets into a little mischief when she thinks she has been neglected long enough.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’
