Vivid Vases

I used a stamp set that has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of months now & must admit that it has never seen ink!  Today, Challenge-#3---AprilI decided that I wanted to create a card for one of my nieces & thought this would be perfect for the card.

Not only that I have “killed 2 birds with the 1 stone” – so to speak as I have used our challenge sketch & the colour “Purple” for the card.  Half way through I remembered that Amber loves purple, so strike #3!  I also decided to flip the sketch on its side so that I could use the stamp.  Love it when a plan comes together!

016wm-blog-insideI also did a couple of Techniques on my card – Paper Piecing & Heat Embossing.  I’ve actually embossed the image by inking in VersaMark & then Basic Grey prior to stamping the image.  I again did the same for the Vases.  I stamped the image onto a piece of DSP with VersaMark & Basic Grey & Clear Embossing Powder.  You can’t really notice in the photo but looks great in real life.

62. Vivid Vases – You’re a Whole Lot of Wonderful

Supplies –

I’ve had to create a couple of Birthday Cards for the coming weeks & went straight to Mary-Jo’s Monday Challenge which is ScreenHunter_237 Feb_ 01 17_35perfect for what I had in mind.

I’ve been playing again & had  the gorgeous Wildflower Meadow Background Stamp & matching Embossing Folder sitting on my desk – will show you those at a later date.  When I saw the open space on the sketch, I immediately grabbed this stamp.  It doesn’t matter how you seem to use this Background Stamp, it always comes up looking beautiful.  I’m really happy with my card, so I only hope the receiver is too.

Thanks Mary-Jo for yet another wonderful challenge!

004-blogTo create my card I went straight for my Subtles Markers & my Colour Coach.  I wanted to spritz the stamp prior to stamping as I thought it would give it a much softer look.  After inking the image with Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral, So Saffron & Wisteria Wonder, I spritzed it to give it a much softer look & stamped direct onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  If you haven’t tried stamping & spritzing, give it a go.  You will surely love the softer look it gives your card.

40. Happy Birthday – Wildflower Meadow

…. to Bonnie & Cam on the arrival of their lovely little baby – Zoey Ann.  May she bring you lots of joy & laughter.003bb-blog

My niece had an early Christmas present 6 days ago – the arrival of her lovely little daughter.  She wasn’t due until mid-January but surprised everyone by arriving a month early.  Maybe she didn’t want to miss out on Christmas.  Mind you, she did muck all their plans up, as they were going to do some work on their home before moving in

If it is one thing you can’t predict is the arrival of babies – they are ready when they are ready!

I hard a hard time creating this card, but now I think I was over-thinking it a lo, so I went back to some of my cards I have created over the years & took bits & pieces from a couple of them to come up with this card.  I am happy with the result.   It is a “me” card!

I embossed a piece of Whisper White CS with the Decorative Dots EF prior to adhering to a piece of Pink Pirouette CS & finally to the Base Card – Whisper White.

005bb-blogI printed “Congratulations” onto a piece of Whisper White CS using MDS , cut it down to size, scored a line above & below the word prior to attaching to card front.

The baby shoes is from the Stamp Set – “Baby, We’ve Grown” & was stamped in Soft Suede Ink, coloured with Blender Pen & Pink Pirouette Marker.  It was then run through the BS using the Circle Framelits.  To lift it a bit, I cut a layer from Pink Pirouette CS with the Starburst Framelits prior to adhering to Base Card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The Butterflies were created using the gorgeous “Beautiful Wings” Embosslits from Pink Pirouette CS.  I decided that I wanted the top part of the card to be mainly white, so the butterflies were adhered randomly to the bottom part of the card.

A girl has gotta have a little bit of bling, no matter how small, so to complete the card Pearls were added to the shoes & butterflies.

What do you think?  Will they love it?
