As I grew up in a small country town way out west, this little song has always stuck in my head. We use to sing it all the time. To this day whenever I see a roo, especially around this time of the year, this song pops into my head.
Now for Day 3 of the Australian version of the 12 Days of Christmas.
“On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me –
A cockie (cockatoo) in a bottlebrush tree
2 flying Doctors,
3 Drovers watching…”
Today it is all about the 2018 Holiday Catalogue as I’ve used the Great Joy Stamp Setwhich is fantastic for colouring. The stocking has actually been coloured with the Watercolour Pencils, no Blender Pen, no Aqua Painter but with lots of shading with the pencils.
Our card tody is the 2nd card created at our Technique Class a couple of Sundays ago.
We used the lovely “Sky is the Limit” which was available for a limited time during SAB 2016. Along with this stamp set we used “Timeless Texture” on our card, a little bit of Heat Embossing, coloured with our Aqua Painters & then turned it into a Shaker Card. These cards are very addictive.
In our Technique Class last Sunday, we played with SU!’s Decorative Masks. If you haven’t used them, you don’t really know what you have missed as there is just so much you can do to create lovely backgrounds for your cards, scrapbooking or 3-D projects.
In our card we used 2 colours with our Masks – Whisper White & Bermuda Bay. The Bermuda Bay gives the card a 3-d effect. To finish it off I kept it fairly simple as I think the Technique speaks for itself.
Our 2nd card last Sunday was still playing with the new “Hearth & Home” Thinlits, but used in a different way. So many ideas, so little time. The ladies loved this card & thought it very different to the first one we created.
We played with our Heat & Stick Powder, along with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter by using it on our sky to create little, tiny sparkling stars. Not sure if you are able to see the shine, but when the card moves certain ways, it lights up. We also randomly scattered small Rhinestones around the card, just to give it a little more shine.
This class is going to be repeated in November, so be sure to check out the Classes/Workshops for dates & times.
In our Technique Class last Sunday we played with the fantastic Hearth & Home Thinlits These are sold as a bundle which include the Stamp Set – Happy Scenes. The stamps are small enough to go behind the window. We used the fantastic all occasions “Lovely as a Tree“.
I will admit when I first saw these Thinlits Dies I saw an old bush gate……. and my mind started thinking…… I even managed to make it a little rustic & worn – just like the gate out home. So of course, to go with the gate, I had to create a real bush Christmas Card.
I still think I went a little overboard on the stars but out home the stars are really that bright. After I had completed the card, I then realised that I should have created the Milky Way! Mind you, I went a little green with the green too as it is very dry out west & they are still in one of the worse droughts since the 60’s, so I’ve been told. There isn’t even any dust left on the land for the wind to pick up.
Again, this class is going to be repeated in November. Be sure to check back at a later for the dates.
We played with the Festive Flower Builder Punch last Sunday in our Technique Class & will admit we had lots of fun creating our flowers. I can see myself using this punch for all sorts of occasions – not just Christmas.
We also teamed Real Red with Pool Party which I would never had done, but after seeing the colours for the DSP – Home for Christmas which is in the new Holiday Catalogue. I am loving the colours & are a bit of a WOW!
This class will be repeated this month, so be sure to check out the dates & times over on my Classes/Workshops Page. If a time doesn’t suit, please contact me to arrange another day & time.
