Joy at christmas…

It’s Sketch Frenzy Friday again!
The card created especially for this challenge is very easy using the DSP from SU® –  Jolly Holliday.  The colours in this paper are so stunning, not your normal bright greens & reds.
To create my card, I layered DSP onto Old Olive Cardstock.  I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock & using my Scallop Edge Punch, punched along one side.  Cutting a piece of DSP, I adhered to the Cherry Cobbler Cardstock.  This piece was then adhered across the middle of the card.
Using Joy at Christmas image from Perfect Punches, I stamped it in Old Olive & punched out using the Scallop Circle.  I adhered this over the top of the DSP placed in the middle.
I finished off with Jewles – Basic Pearls.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Perfect Punches
Ink – Old Olive
Cardstock – Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
DSP – Jolly Holiday
Punches – Scallop Circle, Scallop Edge
Accessories – Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Jewels – Basic Pearls
Tip – Did you know Perfect Punches Stamp Set fits Scallop Circle, Wide Oval, Scallop Oval, Modern Label, Round Tab and Curly Label Punches?
Until next time, Enjoy!

Here for You…

Today’s card is for a Sketch Challenge from Clean and Simple Stamping  Now with this sketch, I did think a little about it, while at the same time wanting to use the DSP – Sweet & Sour Speciality from SU®.  If you haven’t used this paper, you should, as it is so lovely to work with, not to mention the gloss on one side.
After wiping Shimmer Paint onto my Very Vanilla Cardstock with a plastic bag & allowing to dry, I punched a 1 1/4″ circle & lightly adhered to the cardstock.  I then proceeded to sponge/daub Pumpkin Pie Pastel over the top.  Once satisfied with the chalk, I wiped my Embossing Buddy over the top, stamped my image with Versamark & Basic Black and stamped directly over the sponged area. I then heat set it using my Heat Tool.
Using Shimmer Paint gives the background a very rich look, don’t you think?
As you can see, I have really gone against the grain & used Basic Black Cardstock with the DSP.  I think it gives it a really striking finish.  Not only that, I love Blacks & Oranges together, much like Pinks & Blacks.

Happy Birthday…

I’ve created this card for the challenge over at Creative Sketches  I’ve never attempted a challenge over there, but this one looked quiet good & immediately thought Male, along with the DSP- Woodland Walk from SU®  The jury is still out on this one, but think maybe it is starting to grow on me.
I’ve used both Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbons on this card.  I wanted to highlight the Very Vanilla in the DSP, while at the same time break up the joining of the DSP using Chocolate Chip.
I punched 3 stars using the small Star Punch & adhered to the DSP.  Using my 1/16″ Handheld Circle Punch, I punched 3 dots using Chocolate Chip Cardstock  – a little fiddley, but it is what I had in my mind, so I had to fiddle for a little.  I then adhered these to the middle of the stars & applied Crystal Effects over the top to give a little more dimension.
For the sentiment, I used the stamp from Perfect Punches, stamped it in Chocolate Chip & punched out using Extra-Large Oval Punch.  I then adhered this directly to the DSP.
All in all, a very simple & clean male card!

Thanks…

I opened my email this morning & received a very lovely surprise!  Over on Stamping 411, my card ended up being one of the Operators Picks. You can view it Here
As usual they have another great sketch, so why not have a go yourself, it is so much fun!  Without further ado, here is my card for the new challenge.
Close-Up –
For today’s card, I used my dauber and Baja Blue ink.  I daubed the ink directly onto Very Vanilla cardstock, then loading my image with Versamark, I stamped over the sponging.  I then applied white embossing powder over the image, and heated with my heat tool.  I used a tissue to wipe over the image.
As I am loving the effect the Shimmer Paint is giving to my cards, I poured 2-3 drops into a small spray bottle & filled with water.  I then lightly sprayed over the image – you can just make the shimmer out!
Using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die and Baja Breeze, I cut the butterflies out with the Bigshot.  I very lightly sprayed the butterflies with the Shimmer Mist prior to adhering to the card.
With a scrap piece of Soft Suede cardstock and the Thanks Embosslit Die, I again used the Bigspot.  I then cut around the die, sprayed with Shimmer Paint & applied directly to the card.

Non-Traditional Colours…

Today’s card is a combination of 2 challenges, one being Stamping 411 and the other is from a group I belong to over at Late Night Stampers.  The challenge from LNS called for a Christmas Card using non-traditional colours, ie no greens or reds!
So of course, I had to grab one of my favourite stamps (which you are probably sick of seeing by now) to complete my card!
For a little bit of a different look, I’ve used Stampin’ Dimensionals to raise the 3 panels off the embossed background.  This way, the panels do not get lost in the background.  I’ve also used Dazzling Diamonds on the darker tree to highlight it even more!
I’ve used Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon on Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I love the colour on colour look!
