Happy 90th Birthday

I’m happy to say that I am now holding classes at the Toogoom Community Hall every Friday morning, 9.30am – 11.00am.  This has been a little time getting off the ground, but I think 20161103_111313_resizedblogwe could be on our way.  We would love for you to come along.  All you have to bring is yourself!

I was asked to create a card for a lady who was turning “90” – what a milestone!  She loves gardening, so I thought it about time I dug out my Botanical Builder Framelits.  Red always reminds me of lovely bright & happy gardens, so I dug out the Brights DSP Stack to use with the Framelits.  A little touch of Old Olive & a little Memento Tuxedo Black & we have a WOW card for the lovely lady.

If you think the card looks a little familiar, then you are right, as I created one for my aunt back in July very similar to this one.

If you click on the link below, you will be able to create your own card.  Don’t forget, all measurements (metric & imperial) are included, along with a supply list.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Happy Birthday

I created my card about 2 months ago when I first saw the fantastic “A Day at the Beach” Stamp Set in the 2016 Holiday Catalogue.  It has images of a By Jingo (Icy Pole, Paddle Pop, etc), Thongs, Hat, Sunnies, etc all of which I think are very Beachy & Aussie!  I have so many ideas that I can’t seem to get them down on card quick enough.

Today’s card is one that sort of popped into my head immediately on seeing the Stamps.  It is a “Shaker Card” but with some of the stamps from the set – Sun, Thongs & By Jingo Images & represents our summers here in OZ.

I punched 3 circles into a piece of Whisper White Card with the 1″ Circle Punch before adhering a piece of Window Sheet behind each circle.

To create my Shakers I applied the great new Foam Adhesive Strips around each circle & filled them up with lots of bling, eg Sequin Trim, Sequins & even sand from the beach.

This piece was then adhered to a piece of Daffodil Delight Card & then to the Base Card – Whisper White.

I stamped “Happy Birthday” from “Crazy About You” Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry Ink direct onto Whisper White, layered it onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry before adhering across a section of the Card Front.

For the images I used my Blender Pen, Shimmer White Card & Memento Tuxedo Ink.  The Sun – Daffodil Delight Ink, Thongs – Flirty Flamingo & Rich Razzleberry Inks & the By Jingo – Daffodil Delight & Rich Razleberry Inks.  Each image was fussy cut & adhered to the circles.

To complete the card I popped a couple of small Rhinestones to each of my Thongs as well as the Card Front.

I will admit it is a little different but I’m happy with it!  I would like to know what you think about it too!

Until next time,

Happy Stampin’

Happy Birthday Gail

My card today is one that has been getting around the Internet of late, well not my card but others like it.  It was created for a birthday last month.

I cut a piece of Playful Palette DSP to size & decided where I wanted the fold to be.  Once I had decided on the fold, I cut in about 2″ & simply folded & scored the DSP from the middle of the cut to each corner, ensuring that the fold was nice & sharp.

The DSP was the layered onto a piece of Card (which I didn’t realise at the time is a piece of my wedding card stock, thinking it was Cucumber Crush Card) & then onto the Base Card – Basic Black.

I stamped the large butterfly from Watercolor Wings onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Card in Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum & Memento Tuxedo Back Inks before cutting out with the matching Bold Butterfly Framelits & adhering to the centre fold of the Card Front with a Mini Glue Dot.

The greeting is from the Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set & was stamped onto a piece of scrap Very Vanilla Card in Cucumber Crush Ink, the frame in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, punched with the matching Duet Banner Punch before popping onto the Card Front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I love this DSP but was finding it hard to use.  Now that I’ve cut into it, I seem to heading for this Stack all the time.

Don’t forget, this is a great way to use up some of that DSP sitting on your shelves in the cupboard.  Why not head over to our Pretty Pattern Papers Page to see more ways of using DSP.  The Tutorials are also a great source for SU! Demonstrators who hold Classes, Workshops or Demonstrations.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’

Look Who’s Turning….

…40!  Happy 40th Birthday Trish.

My cousin turned the big 40 a couple of weeks ago, so I thought it the perfect time to try & attempt to create a “Twist & Pop” Card for her.  I took my inspiration from a card I found on Pinterest but found a Tutorial to create the card.  Unfortunately, I am unable to find the post, but thank you so20160915_134615_resizedfb much for your tutorial.

I used the lovely “Blooms & Bliss” DSP, “Number of Years”, “Thoughtful Banners ” & the “Watercolour Wings” Stamp Sets.   Along with the Stamp Sets, I used the Layered Oval Framelits & the Large Numbers Framelits (which go with the Number of Years Stamp Set).

Stampin’ Up! make it so easy for you when using DSP as they list the matching Colours.  I used Sahara Sand, Island Indigo & Whisper White Card, along with Rich Razzleberry, Blushing Bride, Island Indigo & Mint Macaron Inks.

Tips –

  • Ensure your score lines are burnished really well with a Bone Folder so that they are easy to fold
  • You may need to help your fold a little the first time you close your card

If you haven’t created one of these cards, be sure you do as they are very easy & lots of fun.  I don’t think this will be the last one I create.

Until next time, Happy Stampin’
