Happy Birthday

Magical-Mermaid---Close-Up

Heya Stampers,

Today’s card is one I created a week or so ago to send off to a lady that put out a call for birthday cards for kids at a Sydney Hospital, so I put my hand up.  Ove the next few days, I will share with you the other cards posted off.

The age group was 11-15 year old girls & boys (yep, I took 2 groups) so I decided to go with the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set.  What girl doesn’t love mermaids?Magical-Mermaid---Inside

I took my inspiration from one of my previous cards which I created when the set first come out.  The layout come from a challenge I set for our FB Group last week.  You can see that card & layout out here.

You are able to download a free tutorial to create your own card by clicking on the link below.  This includes all products used to create my card along with the measurements (metric & imperial).

Cool Treats

Heya Stampers,

Today I am showing you the card we will be creating in our “Cards @ Toogoom” class Cool-Treats---Insidethis morning.  It is not too late to come along – 9.30am – 11.00am.  All you have to bring is yourself!  Everything is supplied!

I am ashamed to say I haven’t used Cool Treats Stamp Set for sometime & then only once or twice but never shown you a card created using it.

I’ve used the lovely “Birthday Boutique” DSP, Watermelon Wonder Ink & CS along with the Mint Macaron Ink & CS all of which have retired.  If you wanted to re-create the same card, all you have to do is swap the colours out for current products, eg “Pick a Pattern” Suite which includes Pieces & Patterns Stamp Set, Pick a Pattern Washi Tape, Pick a Pattern Cardstock Pack & the Eclectic Shaped Paper Clips.  All are suited for boys & girls.

I thought it would also be a good idea to create a Z-Fold Card which the class haven’t created before & I haven’t done one for so long.

To grab your free tutorial, please click on the link below.  It includes a full list of supplies, along with measurements (metric & imperial).

Until next time when I show you the one created using the Pick a Pattern Suite.

Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop

Heya Stampers,

Welcome to the Global Stamping Friends Bloghop – a group of Demonstrators from all logoaround the world.  You have arrived from Kimberley’s blog.

Each month there is a different them & this month, the focus is on the Kids.

I actually created this card a couple of weeks ago when I first received the lovely “Magical Mermaid” Stamp Set which I think is perfect for girls.  So many ideas, so little time!

I wanted to try & use the set a little different while at the same time, create a different fold.  It is very simple but with all the Whisper White I think it is quiet effective.

Magical-Mermaid---Close-UpTo create my Base Card – Bermuda Bay, I scored & folded it in half but cut about an inch from the right hand side so that I could continue the “ocean” on the side of the card & the mermaid overlapping a little.

To create my background – I used the Block Stamping Technique by swiping Bermuda Bay Ink onto a block & stamping onto a piece of Whisper White Card.  The seaweed was stamped in Pear Pizzazz Ink & the seashells with Sahara Sand.  I embossed the piece using the Ruffed Dynamic EF & adhered it to the Base Card.

The mermaid was stamped onto Whisper White with Early Espresso, coloured with the Watercolour Pencils, blended with the Blender Pen before being fussy cutting & adhering to the front with Stampin’ Magical-Mermaid---InsideDimensionals.

For the inside, I masked off a piece of Whisper White on the left hand side, repeated the same process as I did for the front so that the “ocean” continued across the card & the adhered it to the inside of the Base Card.

I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Whisper White in Early Espresso, fussy cut it & adhered it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To complete the card, I randomly scattered small Rhinestone Basic Pearls so that they looked like bubbles.

I do hope you have enjoyed my card.  I am hoping to post a tutorial later on in the week.

It’s Your Day…

… Make a Splash!

I’m  just loving this cute little stamp set “Message in a Bottle“.  So many ideas, so little #8---Maytime!  It is perfect for all occasions!  In fact, when I first saw this stamp set, I knew what I had to create with it.  It has taken me some time, but am happy with the result.

I wanted to show my “Cards @ Toogoom” class how much fun it is to play with the Watercolour Paper , Aqua Painters & water & I mean water as we really wet our paper.  It also doubled as my card for our challenge over on our FB Page.

I did start out sponging Rich Razzleberry, Pink Pirouette & Night of Navy but it wasn’t giving me the result I wanted so I switched over to Powder Pink, Fresh Fig & Tranquil Tide I then watched the magic happen as no 2 pieces will ever end up the same.

Splotches of water was then splashed over the dry Watercolour Paper to take some of the water away.  I splashed the Clear Wink of Stella over the top before die cutting with 20170626_120225blog-close-uthe Stitched Shapes Framelits  by running through the Big Shot.

I used Archival Basic Black Ink to stamp my mermaid onto Watercolour Paper.  She was coloured with Powder Pink (skin), Lemon Lime Twist (hair), Fresh Fig (cap & bra) & Tranquil Tide for the tail along with an Aqua Painter.  Between the colouring of different inks, I let them dry as I didn’t want the colours to run into each other.

The background was embossed with the Seaside TIEF by running a piece of the Thick Whisper White through the Big Shot & adhered to the Base Card – Powder Pink.

FMS296 – Magical Birthday

I’ve been playing with the lovely, lovely “Magical Mermaid” Stamp Set over the weekendFMS296 & must admit am loving it.  For such a little stamp, it sure packs a bit of a punch!

I saw the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches & I had a piece of Watercolour Paper sitting on my desk waiting for inspiration to hit me so it was perfect timing to create something with the Paper using the sketch provided.  The only stipulation was keeping the card “clean-lined & fresh”.  I think I have managed to do this, but would love to know if you think I have!

It is not very often I create square cards, except for special occasions or if I am ask to do so.  In fact, my card is actually a 6″ square card but am loving the end result!  Now to create an envelope Magical-Mermaid-insideto fit it!

Thanks to the Watercolour Paper I could apply lots of water & with a big help from my Aqua Painter I was able to achieve what I had I my mind.  The key thing when working with water & your Aqua Painter is to let your card dry completely & also between colouring with different Inks so that they don’t run into each other, unless of course, that is what you are aiming for, eg my background.

Thank you to FMS for a great challenge.  Loved it!  Why don’t you pop on & play along with their challenge.  You still have a little time before the link closes.

You are able to download a Free Tutorial to create your own card.  The tutorial includes a list of supplies & measurements (metric & imperial).

Until next time, Happy Stampin’
