G’Day stampers,
Today I am not only taking part in the very first Blog Hop – Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! but it is Day 4 of my DSP Showcase. It is a FB Page for anyone who love SU! Products & who scraps. There are over 3500 members. If you love Stampin’ Up! & you love to scrap then why not join us.
Thank you for visiting. You have just arrived from Jessica’s page which means you are now half way through the hop. I do hope you are enjoying the pages that everyone has created & getting lots of ideas.
Our Challenge this month was to create our page using the Sketch Layout. Easy, right? Well, I thought so to but for the life of me I’ve had heaps of trouble coming up with a page that I liked. I think I may have been overthinking things which then creates all sorts of hassles.
Those of you that visit my blog, know that I do layouts for my niece & post them down to her. Sometimes, they include photos, other times they are just the layouts & she selects the photos. The journaling is mostly all left blank as I love her to write in her own handwriting. I think it means more this way.
Anyhow my photo is one of Bon & her brother Jesse who was married in Argentina in April this year. They are very close which I tried to capture in the layout including the colours in Bon’s dress & the black of Jess’ suite. I’ve kept my page very simple as I didn’t want to take away from her gorgeous lace dress. I have been a little loose with my layout as it is a little different to the sketch.
I lightly sponged Balmy Blue onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock before randomly stamping the image from Touches of Texture & a piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper was adhered top right hand corner. This paper suited her dress perfectly!
The photo was mounted onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. The journaling area is a piece of Whisper White with a piece of the Specialty Paper adhered to the top & let hang over a little.
The 2 hearts were die cut from Balmy Blue & Basic Black Cardstock using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits & adhered to a piece of Whisper White Cardstock.
The “love” was die cut from Basic Black using the same Framelits & adhered to a piece of Whisper White. All 4 pieces of Whisper White were then adhered to a square of Basic Black & then to the sponged Whisper White.
The letters were cut from Balmy Blue & Whisper White, adhered onto each other but off centered a little before adhering to the Basic Black Square. The little butterfly was die cut from Balmy Blue & Whisper White while the subtitle was typed & printed onto a piece of Whisper White, mounted onto a piece of Balmy Blue & then adhered to the page.
Next up on the hop is Michelle. Just click on the “NEXT” button or from the names below in the Blog Roll. When visiting the blogs, please don’t forget to leave a little love by way of a comment. I’m sure they will appreciate it.

Thank you Danielle. Enjoyed the hop
I love how you used the blueish tones in the photo (appearing on the bride’s dress) in the rest of the layout. It makes it all come together really nicely.
Thank you so much Natalie
Vicky I do love your take on the sketch <3 I too had a lil bit of trouble with this one <3 Such a great idea leaving the journalling areas blank for your Niece to fill in… She must LOVE that you create these beautiful layouts for her <3

Thanks Sharon. Funny how the simple things can sometimes stump us. It was a great hop
Vicky, your page is a good example of why sketches are fun. Your shifts and resizing of the blocks make for a perfect page for your photo. The laser cut paper ties in with the lace on your niece’s dress beautifully! Thanks for hopping with us.
