SC 078/13…

Our challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations has been set by Gwen.  She has been very kind to us this week as there is no sketch, but we are requested to create a Card, 3-D Project or even a Scrapbook Page with a “Sympathy Theme“.

I actually completed my card for a couple of challenges ago, but when I went to post it, realised that I had the wrong challenge.  I have since used the card, so it is no longer in my possession.

I love the little rose which is in Stamp Set “Papaya Collage“.  It seems to suit any occasion & I have used it a lot of late.  In fact this is one of the cards we created in our Stamping Classes this month.

I love the clean simple look of the card.

Bloomin’ with Kindness…..

… is the Stamp Set I used today for the Sympathy Card I had to create.  I do know this is one type of card we never like to create.  In saying that, I usually have a small stack in amongst my cards, but of course as with any card, when I need one, I don’t go for the stack I have, I usually try & create one to suit the person it is intended or for their family.

One of the ladies from our Friday’s class lost her mum last week, so I took the card & got everyone to sign it for her.  I can now show the card as she will have received it by now.  I created it in Patty’s favourite colours & as it turned out a “Monochromic” Card – that is, using 2 or more tones of the one colour.

I decided to keep it fairly plain as I didn’t want to go overboard with it & I finally got to use the Delicate Designs Embosslits with the matching Large Scallop Edgelits.  Don’t you just love that with Stampin’ Up! – the way everything matches & co-ordinates……….

With Sympathy…..

Today’s card is one I created for a challenge, but the challenge closed before I could post it as I completely forgot all about it.

I then decided to use it for my Friday Crafty Creations Class a couple of weeks ago.  This year we are trying to create some of our cards with different folds while at the same time, still trying to do cards that are not expensive to create at home.

A couple of the ladies did have a little trouble getting their head around the concept of the Window Sheet being in the middle & why we were cutting out card at the front, but after a LOT of explaining, showing & playing, we eventually got to complete it.

The sentiment is a non-Stampin’ Up! stamp.  It is easily able to be substitued for a SU! stamp.

I love the monochromic colours in a card.  They are a little different & sometimes a little harder to tie them in together than adding other colours.

Inspired by Nature….

…. has been retired, but I used it for our Volunteer class last Friday.  We did a little bit of sponging, cutting, stamping off, scoring as well as creating what I call a “Single Panel Step Card”  Come to think of it, I don’t think I ever posted the original we did in a Technique Class.  Will have to find it & post it.

The ladies enjoyed this class as we created a card using a different fold plus a couple of small basic techniques.

On the list this year is to attempt different folds as well as a couple of other things.  It is always fun creating cards a little bit different.

I am really happy with the end result as I sort of started with no idea or picture in my mind.

Thinking of You…

It has been a couple of days since my last post.  I have been busy out in the garden, but now it is just too hot again, so with all housework, etc completed, music in the backbround, Tennis on TV – sound turned down, and my stamps everywhere, I can play!  What better way to spend Sunday arvo, except the beach or maybe fishing!

The inspiration for this card comes from the new sketch over at Stamping 411 and I have combined my group’s weekly challenge where we have to make a Sympathy card – see Here for the 1st card posted.

Again Stamping 411 have supplied the measurements for the sketch –

Base: 11 x 4 1/4″, scored and folded in half at 5 1/2″

Layer 2: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ *** note: this is an extra layer, you could skip this one.. 😀
Layer 3: 5 1/4″ x 4″
Layer 4: 3 3/4″ x 3″
Layer 5: 3 5/8″ x 2 1/2″

For my card I used the Bigshot, Embossing Folder – Perfect Polka Dots – I am loving this folder, but you have probably guessed by now – and embossed Whisper White Cardstock

Taking a piece of Watercolour Paper, I randomly applied Shimmer Paint and allowed to dry.  If you are too impatient, this is where your Heat Tool comes in handy, but I am happy to do something else while waiting for Shimmer Paint to dry.  Wipe your Embossing Buddy over the Paper.  With your image, stamp over Watercolour Paper using Versamark.  While still wet, apply Embossing Powder – White, over the image.  Tap excess into your Tray, and heat image using your Heat Tool.  I love embossing as I love to watch the Powder change colour….

Using an Aqua Painter and Poppy Parade, colour your image.  This is the best part, as you can pick up the ink and with your Painter, lighten or darken your image until you are happy with the result.  I kept mine light as I wanted to keep the whole card very clean.  I then stamped my sentiment directly over the Shimmer.

I’ve found using Shimmer Paint, even the bright colour inks will look soft once stamped.  It also gives a completely different to Watercolour Paper.

Adhere this stamped paper to Poppy Parade Cardstock.  Adhere ribbon to the Embossed Whisper White RHS and adhere Poppy Parade to this piece of Cardstock.  Tie bow and adhere to card.

Stamp Set – Fifth Avenue Floral, Sincere Salutations
