SC 019/11…

This week for the new challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations I decided to go another way.  Mind you, this wasn’t until I had all my stuff to create my card sitting on the desk.  After desicovering that the DSP – Beau Chhateau goes with the Stamp Set Elements of Style & wanting to use both, I then did a complete switch & scrapped a page for my album.

The page is from Dannille’s mum’s wedding recently held in October where both her & Amber were bridesmaids.  The photos are so beautiful that it just seemed a shame not to do something with them.  This one is of Dannielle & her fiancé, Chris.

Once I had decided to go with the colours Chris was wearing, I again grabbed the DSP – Beau Chateau & the matching stamp set Elements of Style to complete my page.

I cut 1″ off 2 sides of the DSP so that it measured 11″ x 11″ square & adhered it to Soft Suede Cardstock.

Rhinestones & Stamped Image…

?

After printing the photo, I left a small white margin right around the photo.  Usually I like to have a matching cardstock border but this way I can bring the white of Dannii’s dress into the layout without having to use Whisper White Cardstock

Prior to adhering the Night of Navy Cardstock to the DSP, I adhered a piece of Seam Binding Ribbon across the centre & then  a piece of Taffeta Ribbon over the top.

I layered 3 different size Flowers together, placed a Brad in the centre of each & adhered them to the LHS of the photo with SU Dimensionals.

Rhinestones & Flowers…

?

To finish the page, I adhered Rhinestones to the top & bottom LHS of the page.  The Rhinestones go well with Dannielle’s jewellery.

I am really happy with this page, as it is not too fussy or over the top, just like the beautiful dress she is wearing, while catching the colours in Chris’ clothes.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style
Ink – Night of Navy
Cardstock – Soft Suede – Textured, Night of Navy
Ribbon – Seam Binding – Baja Breeze, Taffeta – Night of Navy
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Rhinestones, Flowers Brads – Night of Navy
Don’t forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & check out what both Kris & Gwen have created.  Better still, sit down during the week & create something yourself using the sketch provided, but with no Sentiment or Greeting.  You could be the next Ray of Sunshine.
Until next time, Enjoy!

Inspired by Nature…

The layout for these pages have been inspired both by the photos & of course the Stamp Set – Inspired by Nature.  I think this set is perfect for these photos without taking away from the photos.  I love to scrap my photos, while at the same time not have the photo/s become lost on the page.
Page 1 –
I matted my photo onto Crumb Cake & then onto Garden Green Cardstock.  I inked my image with Crumb Cake Ink & radomly stamped around Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I tried to bring the weeds from the photo onto the page.
Wanting to add a little bit of green & the colour of the T-Shirt Amber is wearing, I decided to ink the flower image using Garden Green, So Saffron & Pacific PointSU Markers & stamp over the top of the reeds.  I repeated this step twice.  I then applied Crystal Effects to the flowers so that the colours would pop out more.
Once the Crystal Effects had dried, I adhered my photo to the page.
Using my Basic Black SU Marker, I wrote onto a scrap piece of Vanilla Vanilla, punched out using my Oval Punch & adhered to a piece of Pacific Point Cardstock, which had been punched with my Scallop Oval Punch
I punched a hole either side of the oval with my Handheld Punch & thread a piece of Linen Thread through either side.  I think this blends in well with the whole scrub theme.
Page 2 –
This page was really very easy & took all of about 5 minutes.
I matted my photo onto Crumb Cake & then to Marina Mist Cardstock.

I stamped my reeds onto Very Vanilla Cardstock with Crumb Cake Ink.  I again inked my flower image with Pacific Point, Garden Green & So Saffron SU Markers & stamped them onto the page.  I applied Crystal Effects to the flowers & set aside to dry.

I adhered my photo the centre of the page & with my SU Basic Black Marker, wrote a little bit of “What’s Happening

Scrap Booking….

I am trying very hard to get back into my scrapbooking.  It has been so long, but having my photos all over the place does not help.  So with a bit of luck, I will be able to sort them out while scrapping my photos.

First up are 2 lovely photos of my nieces which were taken early on in the year.  These are such lovely photos, that it was the perfect opportunity to begin with Amber & Dannielle.  Belive it or not, but they are identical twins, hence the title of the pages.  People who have known them all their lives are still unable to tell them apart.  I have to guess which one they are talking about by the stories they relay to me.

Besides doing the 12 x 12 pages, I like to create albums using A4 pages.  Sometimes, I find them a little more easier to handle & seem to fit more in an album than the standard 12 x 12 album.  Fingers crossed SU! will bring out an album to fit A4 pages.

I didn’t want to do the usual beach theme, so I decided to go with the colours in their dresses.  I printed the title onto a piece of Textured Whisper White using the colours in their dresses & adhered to the page with Chystal Effects.  I did pour Crystal Effects over each letter to make it stand out a little.

Make & Take – Scrap…

One of our Make & Take Projects from Regionals was this 6″ x 6″ scrap page featuring “Under the Big Top” stamp set.  I have had my eye on this set since the new catalogue come out as it is perfect for colouring in.  Oh, how I LOVE to colour!  Luckily, I never got round to purchasing it, as this was given to us at Regionals – how great is that?????

The colours for this page are so bright & cherry!  I knew immediatley the photo I wanted to use, as the little clown in this set reminds me of “Ronald MacDonald“.  It was when Julie & I went to Bali for a much deserved break from Timor – the first stop on our venture being MacDonalds.  Julie had been craving it for 6 months, so there was no stopping her!!!!!
Don’t you think this is the perfect photo?????
It was a fairly easy & fun page to put together & didn’t take long to complete at all.  I only wish the pages I am working on at the moment would be so co-operative!!!!!!
Great page for a workshop!!!!

Until next time, Enjoy!!!!

The Bay…

I have been trying to scrap photos each week – mostly to get my albums up to date & because I enjoy it so much.  Mind you, this helps using the great sketch Maria has on her blog each week.  This week is no exception as we have been provided with yet another sketch to use.
In my scrapbooking, I tend to try & focus on my photos, therefore leaving my pages somewhat clean & fresh.  This page is no exception.  I have concentrated on the ocean & the trees in the background, so I went with Tempting Turquoise & Old Olive Cardstock as my main
colours.  I teamed it with DSP – Island Oasis to tie all the colours together.  The photos I mounted onto Early Expresso Cardstock, as in the photo Amber is wearing a chocolate coloured t-shirt which you can just see.
I typed the journalling & stamped the palm tree image onto Whisper White Carstock, cut around it & adhered to the journalling.  This was then adhered to a piece of Early Expresso Cardstock.  I again stamped the flower image onto Whisper White Cardstock in Tempting Turquoise while the frond  was stamped using Old Olive.  Both were cut & adhered to the page.  The Pumpkin Pie flower was cut from the DSP & adhered to the page using SU Dimensionals.
