SSC 241…

This is the card I created fo rthe new challenge over at Stamping 411.  As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew what I wanted to use & how it should look when I finished.  I wanted to try & create a shabby chic/vintage type card.  I think I have succeeded in getting the results I had in my head.

As usual the operators have provided us with all the basic measurements – all the hard work has been done for us –

Measurements –
Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded in half at 4 1/4″ – Very Vanilla
Layer 2: 4 x 5 1/4″ – Soft Suede
Layer 3: 4″ x 1 1/2″  – DSP
Layer 4: 2 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ – DSP
Layer 5: 2 3/8″ x 2 1/8″ – Very Vanilla

I Heat Embossed my image onto the piece of Soft Suede using Versamark & Clear Embossing Powder.

Envelope & Inside Card…

I adhered the DSP to a piece of Pink Pirouette so that I didn’t have the DSP straight onto the Soft Suede & to break the colours up a little.  I think it looks pretty with the little bit of Pink Pirouette showing as a small edge.  I then adhered this piece to the embossed piece using Snail Adhesive.

The Ribbon was adhered across the top part of the DSP & ends tucked under.  The whole piece was then adhered to the Base Card – Very Vanilla using Snail Adhesive.

Stamping the image onto the small piece using Versamark & Soft Suede Inks, I Heat Embossed it.  Using my Aqua Painter, I gently coloured the images with Pink Pirouette & Wild Wasabi Inks.  I nearly left the leaves clear, but after looking at it for a little time, decided to go ahead & colour them.  I like the little bit of green in the card!

Close Up of Clear Embossing & Flowers…

?
I applied Pearls to the centres of some of the flowers & adhered both pieces to the card as per the sketch.  I found a couple of small Butterflies that were in my packet of Pink Pirouette already cut out, so I used them on the card.  The large Butterfly was adhered with Multipurpose Glue & 2 small Pearls applied to the centre.  The Butterflies had been cut using the Beatuiful Wings Embosslits Dies.

I stamped my sentiment direct onto a piece of Very Vanilla using my SU Marker – Soft Suede, punched with the Modern Label Punch, dabbed a little Pink Pirouette around the edges, adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals & adhered the small butterfly to the sentiment.  I applied 3 small Pearls to the punched piece – 1 in the centre of the Butterfly & 2 to replace the “o” in the words.

Lastly, I tied a bow & applied to the card with Mini Glue Dots.

When I saw this sketch, it is very similar to a scrapbook layout I have completed for  a class I have this month, which I will post once the class is finished.

Scrapbooking…

After completing my page for the current challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations me being me, I had to complete a matching page. There is still time to play along.

Again, I’ve taken Dannielle & Chris as the focus & all I’ve done is flip the page 90 deg & added a bit of a heading.

It is merely the same as the posting here.

For my heading, I printed onto Whisper White Cardstock, punched with the Decorative Label Punch & then again in Night of Navy.  This piece I cut in half lengthways & adhered to the top & bottom prior to adhering to page.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style
Ink – Night of Navy
Cardstock – Soft Suede – Textured, Night of Navy, Whisper White
DSP – Beau Chateau
Punches – Decorative Label
Ribbon – 1/2″ Seam Binding – Baja Breeze, 3/8″ Raffeta – Night of Navy
Accessories – Flowers, Rhinestones, Snail Adhesive, SU Dimensionals

Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 019/11…

This week for the new challenge over at Sunny Challenges & Creations I decided to go another way.  Mind you, this wasn’t until I had all my stuff to create my card sitting on the desk.  After desicovering that the DSP – Beau Chhateau goes with the Stamp Set Elements of Style & wanting to use both, I then did a complete switch & scrapped a page for my album.

The page is from Dannille’s mum’s wedding recently held in October where both her & Amber were bridesmaids.  The photos are so beautiful that it just seemed a shame not to do something with them.  This one is of Dannielle & her fiancé, Chris.

Once I had decided to go with the colours Chris was wearing, I again grabbed the DSP – Beau Chateau & the matching stamp set Elements of Style to complete my page.

I cut 1″ off 2 sides of the DSP so that it measured 11″ x 11″ square & adhered it to Soft Suede Cardstock.

Rhinestones & Stamped Image…

?

After printing the photo, I left a small white margin right around the photo.  Usually I like to have a matching cardstock border but this way I can bring the white of Dannii’s dress into the layout without having to use Whisper White Cardstock

Prior to adhering the Night of Navy Cardstock to the DSP, I adhered a piece of Seam Binding Ribbon across the centre & then  a piece of Taffeta Ribbon over the top.

I layered 3 different size Flowers together, placed a Brad in the centre of each & adhered them to the LHS of the photo with SU Dimensionals.
?

Rhinestones & Flowers…

?

To finish the page, I adhered Rhinestones to the top & bottom LHS of the page.  The Rhinestones go well with Dannielle’s jewellery.

I am really happy with this page, as it is not too fussy or over the top, just like the beautiful dress she is wearing, while catching the colours in Chris’ clothes.

Supplies –
Stamp Set – Elements of Style
Ink – Night of Navy
Cardstock – Soft Suede – Textured, Night of Navy
Ribbon – Seam Binding – Baja Breeze, Taffeta – Night of Navy
Accessories – Snail Adhesive, Rhinestones, Flowers Brads – Night of Navy
Don’t forget to head over to Sunny Challenges & Creations & check out what both Kris & Gwen have created.  Better still, sit down during the week & create something yourself using the sketch provided, but with no Sentiment or Greeting.  You could be the next Ray of Sunshine.
Until next time, Enjoy!

SC 012/11…

A new challenge is up & running over at Sunny Challenges & Creations
This week, it was my turn to set the challenge & with our challenges we don’t just get the sketch, but a 2nd part too, that being Flowers, Flowers, Flowers.  How easy can it be!!!!  We all love making cards with flowers.  Let’s face it – they are the easiest cards to make!
Now on with my card –
Base Card – Soft Suede – 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ or 21cm x 15cm – score @ 4 1/8″ or 10.47cm & fold in half
Layer 1 – Pink Pirouette – 5 3/4″ x 4″ or 14.5cm x 10cm
Layer 2 – Very Vanilla – 5 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ or 14xm x 10.5cm
Layer 3 – Soft Suede – 4″ x 1 1/4″ or 10cm x 3cm
Layer 4 – DSP – 4″ x 1 1/4″ or 10cm x 3cm
Close Up of Embossing
Using my Embossing Buddy, I rubbed it over the piece of Very Vanilla, stamped my image onto Versamark & then Pink Pirouette Ink before stamping it onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I poured Clear Embossing Powder over the image, tapped off excess & applied Dazzling Diamonds on top, tapped excess off & heat set with my Heat Tool.  You are not able to see the Dazzling Diamonds in the photo, but it does sparkle in real life.
I cut this piece into 3 equal pieces & adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette using my Snail Adhesive
I repeated the same technique for my senitment, except I used Soft Suede Ink.  This was stamped directly onto the piece of DSP.  I tore both sides of the DSP & adhered to the piece of Soft Suede Cardstock
Tip – When tearing DSP or Cardstock, ensure you tear it towards you.  This way you will get the torn section showing on your work

?

Card Inside…

?

I adhered a piece of Ribbon along the bottom of the DSP, tied a bow, applied 3 Basic Pearls & adhered to the piece of Pink Pirouette Cardstock.
The Pink Pirouette Cardstock was then adhered to the Base Card – Soft Suede.
Wow, after reading this, it sort of come together really easy, but believe me, it took me a little longer to figure out what I was actually going to do for this sketch.
For my Inside, I again tore a piece of DSP, adhered to a piece of Soft Suede & then to Very Vanilla prior to adhering to inside of card.  I wanted a small piece of Very Vanilla showing at the bottom – see photo.  It broke the Soft Sude on Soft Suede.
